Master Your Battlefield
Gaming has changed. The modern battlefield is an especially hostile place, with threats from the air, sea and land. How do you react to these extra dimensions of gameplay? Enter the ROCCAT Tyon, the all action multi-button gaming mouse that's the result countless hours of design from the industry's greatest minds, specifically tailored for modern, multi-vehicle warfare.

Unrivalled Command Power
The Tyon features the X-Celerator, a single-axis analogue thumb paddle pioneered for modern battlefields. It gives you unrivalled command capabilities without sacrificing control. You can use it to seamlessly tilt left and right, pitch up and down, increase and decrease throttle and much more, all while maintaining perfect mouse control.

Improved Easy-Shift [+] Functionality
ROCCAT's breakthrough Easy-Shift [+] technology lets you assign a secondary function to each button on the mouse, for a near endless number of attack possibilities. The secondary function can be activated once the Easy-Shift[+] button is held down. On the Tyon, this is a dedicated button conveniently located beneath the traditional side buttons.

Extended Attack Options
The Tyon is the first ROCCAT mouse armed with the ingenious Dorsal Fin-Switch, a two-way button controlled mid-knuckle, expertly placed for ease of use without having to adjust the hand during crucial moments. The Dorsal Fin-Switch is a brilliant tactical design to move ever more vital functions away from the keyboard and to your gaming mouse.

An Expanded Arsenal
Four expertly placed ergonomic buttons flank the main right and left clicks, allowing even more functions to live on the Tyon rather than your keyboard. This addition to the multi-button layout allows for even more rapid execution of myriad commands, designed to feel so comfortable each action feels like second-nature.

You're Tyon, Your Style
Fully customize the look of your Tyon with new industry-standard RGBY lighting illumination system. Adjust the colour of your scroll wheel and mouse rim independently of one other for your own unique look. Not as good as it should be.

I have used a Roccat Kone+ for a good while now and it feels nice, added weights make it better, fight almost perfectly in my very large hands.
I thought the Tyon would be a natural replacement for it but sadly not. The mouse is the same size as the Kone but because of the shift key under the thumb and the lowering of the two buttons above the thumb there is not really enough room for my thumb between them and I keep pressing the shift button. It does not have the weights and does feel cheaper and more plasticy than the Kone+ and the LED lighting is far inferior to that of the Kone+. Basically only having to LEDs one around the base and one for the wheel. They can be individual colours, but they both "flash/glow" or whatever or not, cannot choose one to flash and the other be static. Also if you choose a range of colours they are out of sync.
I have had no hardware or software issues with this mouse at all, and was able to update it easily.
I will put this aside and maybe can find someone with a smaller hand/thumb who will take it off me and I will get the XTD.
Such a shame as the specs look good but it just does not cut it I am afraid, maybe others will be lucky.

If I were you, I 'd wait and let it matu

I never had a good luck with this mouse. I have replaced the mouse twice for the driver/hardware issue.

The first replacement:
Internal Flash Memory was faulty. The mouse was seen as USB 1.0 by my PC ( I did reinstall my chipset and USB drivers to a week old Devil's Canyon built). Couldn't update the firmware (gave me error no matter Admin/Non-Admin). The driver mess the other driver for example, I use two Roccat mouse, Kone XTD and Kone Pure both connected to the PC (which is working fine!). As soon as I swapped my Kone pure, the other mouse, Kone XTD's profile is erased upon restarting the PC which, it never happened before since I bought the XTD. There seems to be two background monitoring software for Tyon which may interfare with other mouse from the same company. (The other example goes to my Roccat MK Pro keyboard where my profile one was completely erased randomly not during the PC turned ON but when you restart the PC/cold boot) .

The second replacement:
The 'Back Button' did not click the same way as the other buttons on the mouse. For example, I had to press harder on that particular button in order to click. The profile, yet didn't save. I don't want to keep my pc on for the sake of the driver/hardware issues. This mouse is not cheap. I paid 89 pounds at Overclockers when it was released. I didn't pay for junks. And as an enthusiast gamer myself, this is not acceptable. I wouldn't say Roccat Kone XTD is 100% perfect but from my impression, it had more reliability. From day one with Tyon, I couldn't enjoy the mouse the way I enjoyed the XTD when I first bought it.

The actual review:
Apart from the design/manufacturing issue above, the mouse itself works beautifully when used with the right mouse surface. For example, the mouse didn't quite do well with Raivo Control but as soon as I changed to Roccat Hiro mouse mat, the mouse worked brilliantly perhaps 15% better in control than that of Kone XTD. The led light is attractive too.

There are two major problems with the design though. They are, the placement of all the buttons except the easy-shift and the buttons are quite hard to press. The buttons are not situated well especially the back and forward buttons where your thumb doesn't fit especially if you have a short thumb like mine. The additional buttons expecially next to right-click is also, hard to reach unless you move your wrist. The mouse clicks are hard to press thus this mouse is not suited for FPS games where rapid press/fire counts. The side Accelerator is almost useless since it doesn't grip well to the thumb surface and again, it's hard to tilt quickly without the need of the wrist movement. This mouse is a complete finger grip type and so if you are a palm grip user, this one is not a good choice.

Unlike the Kone XTD, this Tyon, as far as I believe, doesn't offer the premium feel. The reason goes to the material they used this time. As someone here have said in Amazon already, it's more of a plastic feel and the fact that you can't control the weight, it doesn't feel right. And you know the price too. You will quickly notice the quality straight out of the box when you get the mouse.

I have been expecting a lot from this mouse since it's announcement but I felt sad after I have touched it with all sorts of problems such as above.

Simply put, I have to say that this mouse is not practical and needs maturing. I have a feeling that they have released this mouse way too early.

I am too scared to replace it again and so, I returned it for a complete refund.
