SM951 128GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive (MZVPV128HDGM-00000)

The new, best thing in storage technology, NVMe, which has been hot property in the server market due to it's extreme transfer speeds, has now reached the desktop market. The Samsung SM951 M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD is the new performance leader in M.2 form factor SSD's. Providing up to 2000MB/s read and 650MB/s write sequential data transfer rates, along with astounding random I/O ratings of 300k reads and 83k writes.

The Samsung SM951 (NVMe) is compatible as a boot device in a wide variety of systems with a free PCIe 2.0/3.0 M.2 socket. This includes Z170/Z97/X99 based motherboards, modern notebooks, and tiny form factor PC's like the Intel NUC. It can also act as additional super high speed storage in almost any desktop with a spare PCIe slot when combined with a PCIe adapter.

PLEASE NOTE: Some M.2 motherboards only support SATA 6Gbps speeds or PCI-e x 2 lanes. You need to make sure your board supports NVMe and PCI-E x4 Lanes to get the full speed from this SSD.

- Extreme performance - up to 2000/650 sequential read/write data transfer rates and 300k/83k read/write random IOPS
- Bootable in Windows 7/8, Mac OSX (2006-2010 Mac Pro only) and Linux
- PCIe 3.0 device, backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0
- Small M.2 form factor plugs straight into your PCIe-based M.2 socket with no additional cables required

- M.2 PCI-E 3.0 (x4) interface on an NVMe Compatible Motherboard
- Read Speed: 2000MB/s

Working on Windows 7 ! Heyyy

Installed into a Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming AMD motherboard.
Just needed driver install from Samsung and voilaaa.
Read speed 1666 MB/sec
Write speed 712 MB/sec
On an old AMD system with PCIe 2.0 and its running on almost full speed (2000Mb/sec).

I could NOT get to work the previously bought PM961 with polaris chipset as Samsung did not release any driver and the old NVME drivers not good for the new chipset. So had to send back to Overclockers.

Next I am going to buy a 512GB of SM951 with a PCIe adapter for data and use the 128GB as system drive.

My drives speed:
500GB Seagate HDD 123 MB/sec
HyperX Fury 240GB SSD 527 MB/sec
Samsung 540EVO 120GB 535 MB/sec
Samsung SM951 NVME 1666 MB/sec

Very happy with this drive.

Jesus,,,, this thing is fast. And the best part. I did a test and hit 1994mb/s. The rating is actually accruate. You need to make sure the mobo supports PCI-E M.2 though. I put this in and it instantly allowed me to install windows 10 to this drive, which is great. Highly recommended.
