Product information: HD 7950 Vapor-X OC 3072MB PCI-Express Graphics Card (11196-09-40G)

SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB OC with Boost Vapor-X Edition has the latest GDDR5 memory clocked at 5000MHz effective, and runs with a core clock speed of 850 MHz which with PowerTune Dynamic Boost rises to 950 MHz on the engine. It has a slightly less sophisticated 8-phase power design and the versatile output configuration of Dual-link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort.

The Vapor-X cooler is based on a new vapor chamber designed especially for this series. Heat is carried away by four heatpipes (2 x 8mm plus 2 x 6mm), and finally dispersed by two 90mm fan with aerofoil blades and dust repelling bearings. The Vapor-X cooler easily handles the heat generated from the HD 7950 even under extreme load conditions.

I bought one of these (not from OCUK)from a famous online retailer to replace my ageing but faithfull Sapphire HD5770.The performance jump is amazing, the card doesnt even break a sweat under full load on BF3 and 3D mark/heaven benchmarks.Ive read reviews on this card prior to buying, some saying its too noisey or runs too hot, well my answer to that is they must have recieved a faulty card.I cant praise this card enough and I plan on crossfiring 2 of these at a later date.

I bought this to replace my ageing but loyal sapphire 5770 and was blown away buy its performonce. In comparison the 5770 was knocking out 35/40 FPS at max on BF3,this beast doesnt even break a sweat on maxed out settings its hitting 85/95.Ive read plenty of reviews on this card prior to purchase from hardware companys and buyers alike,DO NOT believe the people slagging it off for being to noisy ETC.its all bullshit(Nvidia fanboys/knob-heads).This card is awesome

Not voltage locked

Just bought one of these and like others here, thought it was voltage locked. Turns out that only the boost bios is voltage locked. Switch to the "slower" stock bios and the voltage is no longer locked. I get core clock of 1195mhz - freaking fast.

Hope this helps!

You can use a program called MSI afterburner to force a constant voltage and overclock the card.

I have been reading up on the sapphire forums and these cards are not in fact voltage locked through hardware but rather the bios being used.... but even this can be overcome easily.

Switch to the second bios (so the light is on) then install afterburner.

I have uploaded the config here:

You also need to disable ULPS (use regedit and set all entries to 0) to ensure that the changes to the second card 'sticks'

Personally I do not overclock mine as I have no need to (I purchased 2) but I tested it and 1200/1500 worked a treat. Running at stock now as there's no need.

Merry Christmas :D

locked voltage, when using boost bios at stock performance is worst than in 900 mhz 7950 cards without boost as long as you don't add power limit in ccc card is trhrottling under load. Maybe I have another revision so I ordered this card from german seller, becouse I prefer die then pay even one pound tax in England.

Insanely fast

Purchased two of these last week as my trusty 5850 toxics were beginning to show their age in terms of vram availability and horsepower.

These are a serious upgrade, much quieter, cooler and most definitely faster.

Far cry 3 on ultra with enhanced lod etc and 4*msaa does not dip below 60fps, actually on average each gpu is around 65% utilised, the highest I have seen is 85% each.

3d mark 11 gpu score is >20k, combined is almost 17k (2600k @5Ghz)

Seriously impressed, always go for Sapphire!

Blazing Fast Card!

Got this a few days ago and what can i say, enabled the boost bios switch putting it to 950/1250 clocks on normal voltage and running everything i throw at it maxed out stable 60 fps, been playing skyrim with 10+ HD and graphics mods, Dishonored, Shogun 2 FOTS, Black ops, EVE, Wow and Minecraft with no issues, temps haven't gone over 67c and idles at 35-38c, very very quiet and cool great card highly recommended, also overclocks really well can easily push this card past 7970 clocks on stock volts! good job sapphire, as a bonus looks really nice and the logo glows white!

Very good performer

Excellent card .. plays all the latest games on max details cant fault the cooling performance; got it to 1050mhz core and 1280 memory and it only got to 66 degrees. Must have for any gamer looking for superb graphics for a good price!

Cool and Quiet

I'm impressed with this card.
It runs very quiet and cool; under load on the 950Mhz OC'd BIOS the card just about hits 55C and the fan barely spins up - it's completely inaudible over my case fans.
I managed to get a nice overclock to 1115Mhz at stock voltage, which makes it outperform a stock 7970 yet is still very quiet and cool (~60C).

The only downside with the card is that it appears to be voltage locked, which is a bit disappointing as the cooler could no doubt handle much more aggressive overclocks; nevertheless it's still a great card.

Delivery was great as always - I ordered it at 2am and it arrived the next morning :)
