Product information: SST-FT02B-WRI Fortress Windowed Case - Black/Red

With the Fortress FT02 WRI edition, SilverStone engineers have combined the rigidity of unibody construction with the unparalleled cooling layout of the RAVEN chassis, adding a hot-swappable hard drive cage, an acoustically padded interior for maximum versatility and for style an amazing red interior. The result is increased structural strength, increased storage capacity, and whisper-quiet operation. Its elegant outer shell is perfectly accentuated by the U-shaped unibody aluminium frame that not only provides unique styling, but also functional purpose. The bottom gap from the frame to the main body actually serves as the main air intake area for its three massive 180mm fans, making it even suitable for use on carpeted surfaces. For professionals and enthusiasts looking to build a silent workstation or gaming machine with maximum performance, there is no better than the SilverStone Fortress FT02.

Great case

Got this after having cooling problems with my nzxt apollo case.
Fitted my crosshair IV and overclocked amd 1090t in it and now it idles 25 C lower than my last case (35 c) and the load temp is 20 C lower (54 C).
Northbridge temps are also 35 C lower now.
The stock fans are very quiet on low settings (probably about 17 -23 db). The case is full of sound dampening material too. All the case fans put together are still much quieter than the stock fan that comes with the corsiar hydro cooler.

The build quality is very good and the metal is very thick (which also makes it very heavy). The red paint does come off quite easily (specifically where metal touches metal, like when sliding the side panels on & off). Though places where it tends to scratch you can't actually see with the case closed.
The black outer coating is very durable. The cable management is also very good but it was a slight bit of a squeeze to fit all the cables behind the motherboard tray.
Overall very good case

Solid build,

Finished building a i7 gaming rig very nice case has issues like all the other cases have in some way or another.

Pros:
1) Limited edition plate on front my NO. 0217 not sure of how many ?
2) Position of motherboard top heat venting just makes sence on my setup.
3) Very well build chassis.
4) Quick release 5.25 drive bays work well.
5) Handy dandy ssd drive fitting space.

Cons:
1) 3.5" Drive Bays have no real locking mechanism duh.
2) Red paint chips easily and the red finish looks like a fla (fat ladies arse), would have been nicer anodized red for a little extra.
3) ATI HD5970 just squeezes in with about 1/2mm gap between bottom fans to close imho, as i was thinking of installing a radiator for water cooling as the the manual suggest with supplied brackets for installing just above the fans, but if your going to put high end gfx cards then installing the radiator is out of the question as i only have 1/2 mm gap between gfx card and bottom fans.

Apart from the cons i am very please

Quite noisy

Just built a new PC using this case and have to say it's quite a sexy looking case. After installing all the bits and bobs into it, it is actually quite heavy in comparison.

A few issues I have with it. The three 18cm fans at the bottom though seems practical, are actually quite noisy. Even with just the middle fan on high and the rest on low, you can still hear it on the other side of the flat.

Another problem is with the 3.5" Drive Bays. Slapped in all of my existing SATA drives and even though they are go in ok and connect up the with the SATA cables and power, as soon as you put the lid on the other side, the drives slides back out. The locking is just not holding on to the catches on the case as it seems to be very flimsy in all. Kind of make me feel that Silverstone would want you to buy the hotswap adapters instead if you were inserting more than 1 drive into the case if you want everything to fit nicely.

If I could turn back the time, I would have gone with another case.
