Product information: "Skulltrail Extreme" Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX9775 3.20GHz @ 3.40GHz FBDIMM SystemThe all new Skulltrail Extreme system available from OcUK is easily the fastest system we have ever produced.
Harnessing the pure power of two Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX9775 processors running at a massive 3.40GHz (3.20GHz standard speed) there is nothing that can touch this monster for pure power! The 8GB of Crucial FBDIMM memory compliments the two Extreme Edition QX9775 perfectly allowing for the highest possible performance. The motherboard used to bring all of this processing might together is Intel's premier motherboard; the D5400XS Skulltrail. This goliath of motherboards allows for both SLi and Crossfire to be ran on the same board, a feet most other boards would run away from!
Thanks to the superb motherboard OcUK can offer both SLi and Crossfire on this same machine! With a choice of either two NVIDIA 280 GTX graphics cards in SLi configuration or two of the mighty ATI Radeon 4870 X2 graphics cards there is enough graphical power to move mountains. Both the NVIDIA and ATI options offer superb performance in all games, the NVIDIA configuration however favours games that utilise PhysX and manages to pull clean ahead in these games. Whereas the ATI Crossfire configuration has more brute graphical power and is the better performer in the non-physics enabled titles.
The hard drive options available really separate this system from the pack! With the option for dual 120GB OCZ V2 Solid State hard drives to deliver the ultimate in performance possible or the two fastest conventional hard drives available in a pair of Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB 10,000RPM. All of the hard drive options available for the Skulltrail system are configured at RAID 0. This uses both drives together and splits the load between them evenly, this can in some circumstances double the performance from the hard drives!
The cooling backbone of the system is nothing short of outstanding, with this much performance hardware in a single machine it has to be! Dual Tuniq Tower 120-LFB processor coolers keep both Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX9775 processors at the lowest possible temperature. These processor coolers are each hand installed by our expert technicians after a layer of Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound is perfectly spread on the processor to ensure the best possible contact, and best possible heat transfer. The memory is also catered for with a specialist Corsair Dominator Memory cooler being installed directly above them, even under the most intense load the memory will be able to deliver time and time again! Silverstone have provided a monster of a case in the Temjin TJ09B with side window. Being of all aluminium construction the cooling on this case is nothing short of epic. Easily able to remove the heat the Skulltrail system produces this is the only choice for such a high powered high end machine.
Power for all of the hardware is provided from arguably the best PSU ever made for an enthusiast computer, the PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 1200w unit. With more power being available than a small town the system has more than enough power to ensure it is stable no matter what you throw at it.
