Sensei Pro Laser Gaming Mouse (62150)

Based off the critically acclaimed Xai gaming mouse, the SteelSeries Sensei is a top of the line laser gaming mouse dedicated to suiting tournament level players. It features a highly sophisticated firmware that allows for multiple adjustments of the sensor functionality, as well as complex macros to customize the mouse to the user’s specific desires. With the SteelSeries Engine and illumination present on the design, the Sensei has a new look, both on the outside and on the inside. At the same time though, the Sensei still retains all the features that the original Xai is known for such as its ambidextrous design, the ability to save different profiles on board, and the LED panel to customize the
mouse on the fly.

- Programmable macro buttons
- Ambidextrous shape
- Driverless plug-and-play
- User defined bitmaps for the on mouse LCD
- SteelSeries ExactSens
- SteelSeries FreeMove
- Menu system on the mouse
- SteelSeries ExactAim
- 7 Programmable buttons
- SteelSeries ExactLift
- Gold-plated USB connector
- 16 million colors of illumination
- Three zone lighting
- Scroll Wheel
- CPI Indicator, and Logo

Simple and elegant

I really like the simple design and the ability to adjust the colour scheme, just a couple of notes:

The Bad:
1) It would have been nice to have a button on the centre of the mouse to act as a windows logo button. (minor as you could always programme a macro for this)
2) The 'change your logo' option seems totally pointless unless you have a glass desk with a glass mouse mat and "minions" who live under your table to admire your logo. I'll not even state the obvious regarding the "practicality" of a glass table.
3) It would have been nice to have a side click on the wheel as this is a fairly basic function of these things.

The Good:
1) Even though my fingers resemble your average German bratw

My mouse of choice

Review taken from a year of use.

*Excellent form, very comfy with long hours use and haven't received any strain issues.
*Very customisable sensor however most of them are gimmicks and majority are left disabled i.e. mouse acceleration
*Sensor is excellent for high DPI, has no real problems. They're are much better sensors available if using a low DPI, however I have three monitors and don't game that often so a high DPI stable/no jitter sensor is required.
*The 4 side buttons are extremely handy in my work, the left side used for back/forward on webpages and the right side for page up/down. It's gotten to the point that having the right side buttons is now a requirement in future mouse purchases.
*Cool RGB lights...
*In terms of gaming, it works fine, very applicable on user but for example, I play very well in bf4 i.e. usually in the top 5 of the round whilst in CS:GO competitive I

Great Overall, love the customising

Overall a great product, very smooth, love the fact you can customise virtually every button on this mouse. There are just a couple of things I am not too keen on:

1) The side buttons on the off side keep getting knocked by my "fat fingers", thank fully these can be disabled.
2) Would have loved to have had a forward and back button on the wheel, great feature on previous mice.
3) Love the idea of putting your image on the on board display but really don't see the point as it is on the bottom of the mouse, seems like a gimmick not really worth the trouble.

I don't use the mouse for anything other than basic daily functions but I am tart when it comes to pretty lights!

Brillaint but quirky fit

This mouse divides opinions like no other. In general, I think it's revolutionary. The dynamic DPI will make you a noticeably better FPS killer. It's simply a fantastic feature.

Aesthetically, the Sensei is restrained and cool. It looks expensive and is nicely finished. My mousewheel is a bit raspy, and that cheapens the experience, but overall the buttons and clicks are of the highest quality.

My major niggle is the actual fit. I've never had an issue with the button placement (in fact I think they're excellent), but I find my fingers and wrist drag across the mousemat. Over several months I've gradually adapted, but it's not pleasant and I've never got used to it. This mouse has a very flat profile, so if you like Razer or Roccat fits (and I do), then you should try before you buy this mouse.

In the end, the performance of this mouse outweighs the hand fit. The dynamic DPI feature is just too good to overlook.

Sensei is master of the Dojo

Right down to the basics. This mouse is amazing.
Works amazing with most mousemats.

Pros: Fits well in hand and is extremely comfortable.
Colours are great.
Custom bitmap is amazing.
Sensor is amazing.
The most accurate mouse I have ever used.

Cons: Gets dirty very quick.
Sweat is a magnet for this.
The buttons on the opposite side of your hand are annoying and will need to be disabled unless you need them for mmos.

Thank you ever so much Overclockers. I received my mouse 2 days early from the expected delivery date.
I am thoroughly happy with this mouse.

hardcore gaming only

This mouse might have a fancy ARM processor for the laser but the ergonomics and build quality are awful, it feels about as light as a packet of crisps and just as hollow.

Ambidextrous mice just don't make sense, every time I used this mouse I hit the side buttons on the right hand side every time.

I paid

This is just a quick question would this mouse be any good for wow or am I better off sticking to the wow specific one as I also play fps games

Good mouse, though a tid expensive.

To the person below, how you could feed the difference from the Xai is beyond me, as this mouse uses the _exact_ same sensor.

Nothing special about this mouse, just a very ordinary mouse with higher DPI. terrible really.

bad 2011-10-17

Mouse is comfortable to hold and you always feel in control.
The Sensor problems of positive and negative accel from the xai seem to be gone.
I could feel the difference from the Xai as soon as I got in a game, aiming for tracking is flawless.
Best mouse i've ever used so far.
