450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter (TL-WDN4800)

What This Product Does
TP-LINK’s 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter, TL-WDN4800 allows you to connect a desktop computer to a wireless network and access a high-speed wireless network connection. Complying with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, the device can use the 2.4GHz or 5GHz channels and provide wireless speeds of up to 450Mbps which is ideal for users seeking a highly robust, bandwidth intensive wireless networking experience, particularly with HD video streaming and online gaming.
Dual Band

Dual Band is the latest wireless technology allowing the adapter to connect with a 2.4GHz or 5GHz network. This allows you to check e-mail and browse the Internet using the 2.4GHz band or stream HD movies and other media on the 5GHz band. The advantage of working on the 5GHz band is that, unlike the crowded 2.4GHz band shared with microwaves, cordless phones and other wireless networks, it has much less interference and can provide a more stable wireless signal, which is ideal for online gaming and HD video streaming.

Wireless N Speed up to 450Mbps

Both the adapter’s 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands support the maximum speed of up to 450Mbps, which generates a maximum theoretical wireless throughput bringing you a limitless wireless experience.

WPA / WPA2 Encryptions - Advanced Security

WPA/WPA2 encryption standards ensure your wireless connection is safe from intruders.

Easy Operation
TL-WDN4800 comes with a CD utility that helps you complete the software installation and wireless network settings, including security configurations and wireless connection, which makes setting up your network so easy that even for novice users should be up and running in minutes.

* Comes with a Low Profile bracket included in the box

Good solid card with excellent Linux, BS

Like most I much prefer ethernet but we have a desktop in a place making cabling impractical. Previous USB dongles were woeful, so I bit the bullet and grabbed one of these to try. It gives a solid 450Mbps 5GHz connection under Windows 10, and the same under Linux. It's an Atheros chipset (or at least mine is, ymmv as I don't know whether TP-Link vary chips by batch) and as such is well supported under most Linux distros OOTB. The latest FreeBSD (and hence pfSense) releases support it to N standards, as both a desktop card and WAP. Speeds are consistent and it's been set and forget ever since. The external directional antennae are a boon too, and I'm sure they've helped. Highly recommended.

Installed the card into a vacant PCI-E slot, booted up to Windows 8.1 Pro, and away I went. Didn't even require a single driver for operation. Full 450Mbps speed from the off with excellent range. Well worth it.

Faster than 8Pacs Overclocks!

I use this in my i7 4770k system on windows 8.1 64bit and it works flawlessly.
My Dual band wireless router is downstairs and my rig is upstairs. This card connects at 450 Mbps and I get full speed internet from my BT infinity, 74.82mb down and 18mb up. The ping while gaming is always very good and it has never dropped (owned it about 3 months and play BF4, Titanfall and recently Elder Scrolls online) connection. HD video streaming is bang on and web page loading is pretty much instant.
You get a mini CD with it which has the drivers and a wifi utility program on, but id recommend going to their website and getting the latest drivers if using with windows 8.
Highly recommended wifi card.

Nice one

PC with adaptor is upstairs, Netgear router downstairs. Sound connection, video streaming and no disconnections in the several months I've had it. Good piece of kit

Although I'm not far from the router (only 3 or 4 meters and on the same floor) I had been struggling with wireless to the point where I've really been missing the stability of having a wired connection between router and PC. For a while I actually thought it was the router.

I plugged this baby in and now have a nice seamless experience. I can stream HD t.v. (from Iplayer / Netflix) or game and torrent without one affecting the other. No stuttering of playback and continually reduced pings despite having my torrents throttling bandwidth it's still coping with the traffic.

It gets my recommend.
