LN2 cooling setup

Proper equipment used and precautions taken should be your primary focus at all times when using a liquid nitrogen cooling solution. An adequate Dewar / vacuum flask should be used for storage of the LN2, which is a pressurised container, keeping internal contents at an extreme temperature – in this case requiring super low temperature. Liquid nitrogen cooling equipment consists of the following apparatus: Dewar – Used for storage of liquid nitrogen. A Dewar is essential for the safe storage and care of (x) amount of LN2 when not in use. Being a controlled thermo container, it is able to regulate and maintain a wide range of temperatures, even extreme hot and cold temperatures! Flask – Used for temporary storage of LN2 during benching sessions, topping up inflection points as needed. LN2 Pot / Inflection Point – A heatsink in the form of a small pot which is mounted to the hardware you wish to cool with liquid nitrogen. Available for CPUs, GPUs and RAM. Thermal Probe – Required to properly read direct temperatures where placed. Thermometer – Digital thermometer to accurately display temps from the probes in real-time. Insulation – This is absolutely essential to protect your motherboard and other hardware from any drops of condensation that will occur around your LN2 pots. Insulation, along with a small handheld heater, will be your weapons to fight this. Multiple and well applied layers are recommended to keep your hardware as safe as humanly possible. DON’T FORGET THE BACK OF THE PCB! Contact Heater – This allows you to fine tune your temps and get around the issue of cold-booting, which is when the hardware is too cold to even start!
