D5 Photon 270 Reservoir/Pump Combo

The D5 Photon Reservoir/Pump Combo combines the ultimate tube reservoir with the best pump available for PC water cooling.

The D5 Vario pump features exceptional performance and unrivalled reliability. The D5’s speed dial allows you to adjust the pump speed to best suit your system, and the tacho output lets you accurately monitor the pumps speed.

The tube is made from a quality toughened glass, which is both crystal clear and highly resistant to staining. In the center of the tube is an acrylic lighting pole that connects to a 5mm LED on the base of the reservoir. The LED is easily replaceable so you can match the lighting colour to your build.

Unlike other tube reservoirs, which use cheap plastic brackets, the XSPC Photon has high quality CNC cut aluminium bracket. The bracket connects to both ends of the reservoir which give a solid hold without blocking the view of the tube.

Each reservoir/pump combo is hand assembled and pressure tested before sale to ensure reliability.

An easy to use combo but HUGE

I used this in my first custom loop. I was drawn to the combination of reservoir snd pump in order to reduce the complexity of the loop and the size of the reservoir - it really draws the eye when lit by the included led. I have used this in a Phanteks Enthoo Primo but it didnt fit by default as the case reservoir bracket had different spaced screw holes vs the res bracket. Had to drill 3 new holes to properly attach it but the effect is secure and looks like it was designed for it. Bear in mind this reservoir is long and the pump controls are on the bottom. You will need to allow plenty of clearance at the bottom if you wish to adjust the pump speed down from 5.
Filling this reservoir can be done from the top but with the acrylic tube in the middle it reduces the space to add water into - it is not easy to reach when installed; a squeezy bottle for getting coolant in was the best method I found.

In a smaller case or a situation where a radiator is placed under the pump unit I would suggest a smaller solution.

Sturdy well made Reservoir/Pump Combo

For my first watercooled PC I wanted to go with quality, rather than buy lots of cheap but unreliable products I went with what are largely reviewed to be great products. So when it came to the res & pump there was only one place the internet and recommendations from friends lead me - the XSPC D5 Photon 270. It's a tough little cookie. Glass reservoir, with a metal bracket. Extremely sturdy in hand. Has D5 pump which is widely regarded as the go to pump for watercooling enthusiasts. The combo comes pre-made, all you have to do is install. I put one in a Fractal Design Define S and found it to be a tight squeeze, but fantastic for future expansion in my watercooling rig (CPU only for now). Lovely touch of foam to sandwich between the bracket and case to stop any vibration. Down sides, these are TINY problems compared to the rest of the product. But the leads are blue and yellow, for something this premium a little sleeving like on the LED would be welcomed, speaking of the LE!
D the only other downside is i couldn't get my LED to sit right in the central chamber meaning a very dimly lit reservoir, hardly deal breakers, but it's not a perfect product.

Overall I cannot recommend this product enough. It's a solid, good capacity reservoir/pump combo.
