GeForce GTX 970 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (ZT-90101-10P)

Virtual Reality is upon us with the likes of Oculus Rift already available and HTC Vive coming very soon. Valve have released a SteamVR benchmark which will test your system for VR Readiness, we advice customers to run this benchmark as the minimum specification to be VR Ready is a GTX 970 from camp NVIDIA. VR is a game changer for games such as Elite Dangerous, Portal 3, Flight simulator, Project cars and who knows the elusive Half Life 3 may make an appearance from Valve as being VR optimised, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Get VR Ready with GeForce® GTX.
GeForce® GTX graphics cards provide a powerful next-generation platform for the ultimate immersive virtual reality experience. Immersive VR requires seven times the graphics processing power of traditional 3D apps and games. NVIDIA's unique set of features-such as multi-res shading-mean you get the right level of performance, image quality, and latency to ensure your VR experience is nothing short of amazing.

Really impressed, amazing card!

Really pleased with my choice (there's alot of 970s out there!) Nicely presented box, card feels nice and well built, nice weight to it and no plasticy feel. Card is good looking, slots straight in, 2x 6 pin connectors. Good size card, not too bog. Its quiet, i haven't heard it yet. Everything at ultra on all my games! Really happy :)

Dont expect an easy SLi rig with these

While the card performs admirably in solo mode, I decided that to squeeze more performance out of Prepar3d by Lockheed Martin, I would buy a second identical card to run in SLi with my original unit. Unfortunately, I have encountered nothing by issues with the OS and various other applications all seeing the 2nd card being present but Nvidia Control Panel refusing to accept that the bridge was present despite trying 2 independant bridges. Upshot is, no SLi which leaves me bitterly disappointed. I am currently in discussion with Overclockers and Zotac to try to get this resolved but I fear I may be left without a functioning card while one or even both are RMA'd.

In short, be prepared for challenges if you buy 2 of these to shotgun them together!

Quiet, Small, Cool, low TDP and very pow

Went from a r9 290 to this and I am very impressed.
Free game was a bonus.

Good, but Hot!

I didn't buy mine from here, I won it in a competition. This replaces my Asus GTX 760 which was fantastic don't get me wrong. What this card lacks in size, more than makes up for it in terms of performance. Skyrim (Heavily modded), Metro LL, Far Cry 4 to name but a few run so smooth now. My only gripe it that it runs hotter than the 760.. which was about 45-50c under load, the 970 is more like 55-60c under load and the fan gets quite loud too. Other than that, this is an amazing card, fully recommended.

My system is ...

AMD FX 6300
16 GB DDR3
750W PSU and over 4TB in storage.

Brilliant performance!

This is the 2nd time I've ever gotten a high end card, my last few being top of the mid-range cards. I upgraded from a 560ti and what a difference a few years makes. I only got this card mostly because I've noticed that the old card was struggling to play recent games, plus I got a bigger monitor.

Installation was a breeze and took about 10 minutes. Did a clean install of the latest drivers and off I went. I tried out the demo of the Evil Within and today I tried out Call of Duty: Advance Warfare, both run extremely well and look so good!

The card is short in length with was ideal for my case and it runs really quiet. The build quality isn't the best but it will do nicely. There is no "Coil whine" with my card so I guess I'm one of the lucky bunch. As always I got fast next day delivery from OCUK with sour haribos!

The only sad thing is not the price drop within a few days of buying this card but the fact that I missed out on a free game. I really wanted Assassin's Creed Unity as it's my fave games series to date.

buzzing?... load of noise from owners

I have two of these in SLI and I now get over 13k in 3mark firestrike
Very quiet in normal use, but only in a benchmark you may hear a squeal. My 570 GTX did this, check your current card - it may do also

incredibly fast

i have to start by saying my card is quiet unlike the other posters comments, my system is not that quiet to begin with. This card is very fast and i haven't found anything yet that runs slow, grid auto sport ,arma , borderlands , watchdogs etc, I upgraded from a gtx660 and a first gen I5 now running a I7 4790k @4.6ghz and it runs much cooler and quieter than that

Buzzing noise under load!

As along many GTX 980s and 970s this card has the now famous buzzing noise, it is loud. You don`t have to lean close, it is clearly annoying from the other end of the room with a closed case. There is something clearly faulty here, a bad solder connection, loose coil, god knows what, manufacturers are still dead silent about the case. It is not a tiny whining noise as most cards have, my previous card, a Gigabyte GTX 770OC was dead silent with much higher power consumption, so it should not be related to TDP. The forums are filled with noisy cards, it is clearly a gamble if You get a normal/silent card or one which screams all the day along while under load. Take Your chances upon ordering this card and don`t expect much.
