GeForce GTX 980 AMP Extreme Edition 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (ZT-90203-10P)

The new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/970 is powered by the next generation NVIDIA Maxwell Architecture, giving you incredible performance, unmatched power efficiency, and cutting-edge features.

Maxwell is the most advanced GPU architecture ever made, designed to be the engine of next generation gaming. Inspired by light, it was designed to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. For the first time, gaming GPU's can dynamically render indirect light using the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination technology). Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment.

The GTX 980 is the worlds fastest GPU and the GTX 970 offers the most advanced performance in its class. Each delivers 2x the performance of previous-generation card, bringing new gaming experiences to virtual reality, and ultra resolution 4k displays.

Enable the detail of 4k monitors, on a 1080P display. DSR produces smoother images by rendering a game at a high resolution, then downscaling it to the native resolution of the display using advanced filtering.

GeForce GTX 980 and 970 cards support tear-free, super-fast NVIDIA G-Sync monitor display technology including 4k. Together, these technologies provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experiences possible.

Great card

A pretty good card overall.

Looks: They're in the eyes of the beholder, personally I think looks really good. The LED placement at the front is what lets it down if you ask me. Thankfully that isn't the part you'll be seeing in most cases. Everything else looks good to me.

Installation: Well... Easy... Just slot it in and secure it. That being said, if it isn't obvious from the picture above, this is a very long card. You'll want to see if your case is able to fit it before buying it.

Packaging: The card comes in a box that is covered by a cardboard sleeve. The box has a sort of snake skin texture to it and it seems like a quality box. When you open said box you'll be greeted by a packet with Zotac on the front. That includes the stuff you'd expect: User manual, warranty info, quick installation guide and a driver disk. It also includes: A graphics card technical guide that gives you information about OC+ and Firestorm (Zotac's overclocking software), a flyer about Zotac boost premium.

After removing the foam pad you'll find the graphics card in an anti-static bag,
DVI to VGA adapter
2x Dual 6pin to 8pin power cables.

On the driver disk you will find:
The graphics card driver (go to Nvidia's website for the latest driver) which is probably an out of date version.
Firestorm overclocking software
Nero Kwik Media (player)
XBMC (another media player)
UNiGiNE Heaven (GPU benchmarking software)
Quick installation guide (PDF)
PhysicX installation
Adobe reader

After removing the foam pad you'll find the graphics card in an anti-static bag,
DVI to VGA adapter
2x Dual 6pin to 8pin power cables.

Performance: It does very well out the box and it performs as it should. 100 fps is easy for this to hit in just about every game from my experience.

Temps: Idle: 23-28. Not sure about the ambient temp as I have nothing to measure it with. Fan speed ~1000 RPM (lowest it will go). 100% load: ~55 - ~65. Depends on the workload really.

Overclocking: Hopefully I can come back and edit this as I'm still working on it. Currently I have the memory (stable) overclocked to 2040 MHz (8160 MHz effective) @ 1.1V.

One thing worth mentioning is that the voltage is limited to 1.212 volts rather than the reference's 1.254 volts

Overall it's a solid well built card that performs well.

Rocket Power

I was looking for a good card as this would be my first big purchase, well all i can say is im very happy with the card.
It just works with everything i put to it and i mean everything and also the software you get is great with the card as you can monitor and overclock with ease. The light feature can also be turned off but i dont mind it but some people may not be a fan of it.

Temperature's also stay at a good low level and when max your game out it vents the air well. Theres no noise on idle and when max out its rather ok and not crazy bad like an hover.

Something's you need to do is remember to plug in the usb cable to the card you get with the card as this is for all the monitoring also install the software of the disk as i found the one on there website the wrong software, also there website needs a little work in all honestly.

one inportant thing is to register the card on there website within 30days of purchase to get the full 5 yrs. warranty.

Games: 10/10
Video Editing and Rending: 9/10
Features: 10/10
Software 7/10
Noise idle: Very Good
Noise Max: Good
Temps idle: around 25c
Temps Max: around 45c (with corsair airflow 540 case)

Overall: 9.5/10
