8Pack Meteoroid MK2

This year has seen the 8Pack Cryocube make its debut, now joining the line-up is the 8Pack Meteoroid MK2. Mini yet mighty, this gaming PC has been packed with high-performance hardware, custom water-cooling, and overclocked with the 8Pack touch. What more could you want from a premium gaming PC? A futuristic aesthetic, you say? Well, it’s got that too! As well as a myriad of customisation options allowing you to tailor this machine to your specific needs. Stellar.

The Spec

As always with 8Pack gaming PCs, the hardware has been cherry-picked for its high-performance and premium quality. The Meteoroid MK2 is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900X CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, the perfect pair for out-of-this-world gaming. Alternatively, you can opt for the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X. Either way, the processor comes pre-overclocked utilising Precision Boost Overdrive software. This dynamic overlock is done by Ian “8Pack” Parry, himself, and provides phenomenal speeds whether you’re gaming or creating content. Additionally, the graphics card has been overclocked for that extra boost to performance.

As standard, the Meteoroid MK2 has 64GB of DDR4 RAM at 3600MHz and two storage drives, totalling 5TB of space. With an NVMe M.2 and 2.5” SSD, you can say goodbye to slow boot times and long loading screens! Naturally, the RAM and storage can be adjusted to meet your needs, should you require more storage, no RGB lighting, or other tweaks.

The Cooling

A stellar feature of the 8Pack Meteoroid MK2 is, of course, its water-cooling system. The high-performance power demands comprehensive and incredibly efficient cooling. As such, this system utilises a D5 Pump for its more reliable flow and is equipped with two 360mm radiators. For that 8Pack touch, there are branded distro plates manufactured from engineer-grade acetal plastic. Additionally, the reservoir feeds into the distro plated, making it a stylish addition to this gaming PC.

Something unique to the Meteoroid MK2, the graphics card is inverted below a plexi-glass window in the panel above. This showcases the waterblock beautifully, offering a great view of the custom-mixed liquid coolant running throughout the system.

8Pack Meteoroid MK2

In addition to this outstanding water-cooling loop, the 8Pack Meteoroid MK2 has phenomenal airflow. The hexagonal cut-outs on the front and side panel provides amazing air intake and ventilation, all bolstered by the six Noctua high-performance PWM fans. We especially like how the front panel ventilation is shaped like an eight – it’s a fab touch. With the included Aquero Fan Controller, you can manage different performance profiles and the airflow support you’ll need for them.

No matter how hard you work on the Meteoroid MK2, the thermal solution can more than keep up.

The Case

Of course, the other big selling point of the 8Pack Meteoroid MK2 is the case, itself. It is made in-house at Overclockers UK and be any one of these three materials: acrylic, carbon fibre, or aluminium. You want more? There is absolutely nothing stopping you from mix and matching materials – pair a carbon fibre front panel with acrylic sides! You do you.

What’s more, the custom-made case can be finished with a futuristic circuit design, applied with our UV printer, to match the sci-fi blue RGB glow. If you’re a dab hand with designs, then you can have your images* printed on this case. For more information on this, visit this page of the Overclockers UK website.

One more cheeky detail, every 8Pack Meteoroid MK2 comes with its own flight case for safe and secure transit. Beauts.

The Video

Briony had a sit down with 8Pack and Overclockers UK’s Chris Montgomery, to talk about the Meteoroid MK2. They go into great detail about the hardware and customisation options, set to some close-ups of this gorgeous PC. Watch below, and be sure to comment on the size of 8Pack’s arms like he says!

The Customising

There are plenty of customisation options available for the 8Pack Meteoroid MK2. For example, instead of having the matching Pexon braided cables in blue, grey, and black, you can change them to any of the available colours from their range. It does need to be noted that any customisations, cosmetic or hardware, may incur additional costs. Additionally, adjustments to hardware may affect performance.

As it is such a complex machine, the minimum lead time for the Meteoroid MK2 is 36 days. This can be affected by busy periods and 8Pack’s work commitments. The Overclockers UK team will always endeavour to keep to this deadline and you up to date with the system’s build progress.
