Anyone who says a bad word against cheat codes simply hates fun. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. But also, sometimes they’re a nice way to leapfrog the difficulty curve of our favourite games. Luckily the teams behind these titles agree with us. Whether you want to get your hands on the shiniest toys or skip past boring or broken levels, they’ve snuck in ways for you to do just that. We’ve assembled this list of cheat codes that will spice up your life. That means less time spent scouring Megagames, more time spent gaming!
Tomb Raider
Don’t tell me how many weapons Lara Craft can hold at a time! If you’re out of ammo too often, get a refill by doing this; walk one step forward, one step backward, turn around three times, and backflip. You’ll be instantly replenished and your arsenal will get filled up too. Of course, if going through a level all gun’s blazing does not make it any more enjoyable, you can skip it by doing the following; walk one step forward, one step backward, turn around three times, and jump forward. Who’s the Tomb Raider now? You are.
RollerCoaster Tycoon
The smart lads and lasses behind RollerCoaster Tycoon hid this one in plain sight. You can rename any guest/peep by clicking on the nametag icon in the Guest’s window. If you pick one of the right names, your selected guest will get some fun behaviour quirks. Some names belong to the development team and act as fun Easter Eggs and in-jokes. Other monikers are a bit more famous. We’ve got them all below for you to check out.

Theme Hospital
It should be no surprise that the comical minds behind Theme Hospital planted some cheat codes in this delightful sim game. They’ve even called them Super Cheats so you know they’re extra awesome. The first thing you do is open a green “?” Fax and enter 24328 on the pad. Then press the big button in the top right of your screen. When you return to the game you can activate effects like more money, skipping time, and even just winning the whole level. We’ve found a full list of commands and effect right here for you.
The Sims
Not got the patience needed to climb the corporate ladder and move to the big mansion on the hill? Us neither! Luckily you don’t have to wait to earn the cash for the Out of This World Desktop. Hit “Ctrl + Shift + C” to open up the cheat codes window. Type in “rosebud” and hit enter to add 1000 Simoleons to your household account! You can speed things up by getting an extra grand for every “!” you put after the code. Never have your Sim work a day with this endless supply of cash!
Age of Empires
Look Rome wasn’t built in a day and if they had the option to speed that up with some cheat codes, we bet they would have taken it too. The Greeks, Babylonians, and Sumerians do get this option, however. Hit “Enter” during the game and type in one of the codes, before pressing “Enter” again to initiate the cheat. These will let you upgrade your units, reveal the map, and bolster your resources. There’s a whole load of these codes to be found here.
Sim City 2000
Infrastructure is expensive, yo. Between taxes and intermittent alien invasions, it can be hard to amass the capital needed to stay on top of it. If your SimCity treasury is running a little low you can easily top it up with these handy cheat codes. Type in “FUND” during gameplay to get yourself a nice 25% bond and all the votes. If you prefer cold hard cash, try “cass” for a cool $250 or the more humbling “imacheat” for $500,000. Just pay no attention to the tornadoes that seem to happen afterward.
Warcraft: Orcs and Humans
Whether you’re for the Horde or the Kingdom of Azeroth, building a thriving economy and a war machine to crush your enemies is a lot of work. But both orcs and humans can benefit from these cheat codes. You can use any of the below codes by pressing “Enter” and then typing the code in before pressing “Enter” again.

Star Wars: Dark Forces
If you shoot as well as a Stormtrooper, you are definitely going to need some help in this game. Particularly easy to input, these cheat codes are. Just type the code while playing a level, no pausing or opening your P.D.A. As well as the cheats below, there are level codes out there you can use to jump to locked levels. There are also some non-functional joke codes floating about, but we won’t muddy our table with those.

Half-Life
Cheat codes in Half Life let you do anything from accessing any level and weapon to giving you a super jump. But the catch is you need to enable the console that lets you do this. You need to come out of the game to do that! Right-click on your Half Life shortcut and go down to properties, then go to the target tab. Find the line “X:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe” and put “-console” at the end with a single space beforehand. When you go back into Half Life, the main startup screen will have an extra selection called console you can enter any of these cheats into.
Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines
There’s so much variety of missions to be done in Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines that not every one will be to your taste. Luckily there’s a way to circumvent needing to carry out sabotage or risk your squad getting wiped. Type in 1982gonzo then press the corresponding keys to activate these effects.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
We all love Rainbow Six, but boy does it not pull punches when it comes to its difficulty level. But what else are cheat codes for if not letting us all enjoy a challenging game on our own terms? Firstly, you need to display the console window by pressing the quotation mark key [‘]. Then you can enter any of the codes listed here, or try out some of the sick tips and Easter Eggs!
