Dungeons and Dragons DLC is coming to Minecraft!

When we talked about gaming crossovers, we never anticipated that Dungeons and Dragons DLC would be coming to Minecraft!

Dungeons and Dragons DLC is coming to Minecraft!

It’s an exciting time to be a D&D and Minecraft fan. Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves has got us itching to play, and Minecraft Legends will be out later this month. So, imagine our excitement when a trailer dropped for Minecraft Dungeons and Dragons DLC during D&D Direct last week!

The Adventure is Building

The Minecraft Dungeons and Dragons DLC is set to have a story-driven narrative, exploring the Forgotten Realms in brickified form.

First off, can I just say, the music? On point. I feel instantly transported to the Forgotten Realms, even with the blocky Minecraft aesthetic. You play as D&D classes and races, with many recognisable locations to explore, such as the Icewind Dales and Candlekeep, expertly recreated in the Minecraft universe and style. Seriously, kudos to whoever designed those. How people turn little blocks into magnificent masterpieces is beyond what my little brain can comprehend.

Better yet, the Dungeons and Dragons DLC will be an in-Minecraft campaign that starts with your avatar at the table and features a custom combat system that recreates iconic class skills. Go live your best DnD adventure, complete with gelatinous cubes, mimics, and, well, dragons. All with that classic Minecraft treatment.

We shall certainly be glued to our newsfeeds for the latest developments!

Minecraft is Coming to D&D?

But wait, there’s even more! The Minecraft Dungeons and Dragons crossover is a two-way street. Monsters from the Minecraft universe have now been added to the Bestiary on D&D Beyond. Oh yes, you can now encounter Endermen on your travels through the Forgotten Realms and throw Creepers at your unsuspecting players. Also receiving the D&D treatment are wolves and Ender Dragons. Watch Chris Perkins, a Game Design Architect for D&D, discuss what it was like re-creating these Minecraft legends.

Great Gaming PC to Play Minecraft

As Minecraft has been going for ten-plus years, the official specifications are pretty moderate. It does, however, require the Bedrock Edition to play. Good news though, Bedrock supports crossplay!
