‘Lead the Guardians and Save the Universe’ this half term with the upcoming Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy game. Produced by Square Enix and designed by the experts at Eidos Montreal, the game is set to be released on the 26th of October 2021.
Refreshing New Story
Play as iconic Marvel characters in this brand-new, third-person action-adventure. Featuring our favourite rag-tag team from the MCU’s (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Guardians of the Galaxy films. The game still upholds the classic humour and unique, entertaining characters that we adore from the films, whilst introducing a new refreshing storyline. One that focuses on their adventures from the comic book series instead. Taking place, several years after an intergalactic war, the enemy is not Thanos or the Infinity Stones but rather the Universal Church of Truths. Your goal is to reveal what the Church and its leader has in store for the galaxy and the meaning behind the mysterious ‘Promise’.
The game is single-player only. You take the lead and play as Peter Quill, aka, Star-Lord. The other guardians are equally complex and customisable, even if you don’t get to play as them. Each member has unique skills and is capable of manoeuvring certain obstacles. You need to command your team to clear the path and take out your foes as they battle alongside you. With experience points, you can unlock additional assets and powers for the rest of the Guardians and Star-Lord.
With a heavy focus on leadership, the game has an intriguing combination of combat and story-driven gameplay. Make your own choices as Star-Lord and be prepared to face the consequences of your decisions. These can range from light-hearted bickering amongst the Guardians or devastating, out-of-blue chaos. Not only this, but you must be a good captain. If you neglect the rest of the Guardians, get ready to be outnumbered when you need them most!
All-Guns Blazing
Take advantage of Star-Lord’s unique combat style and battle for the fate of the galaxy.
Using his fists and blasters, engage in close combat against your foes. Or harness the power of the elemental gun to cause additional effects to your enemies, such as freezing them in place – giving you the upper hand in battle. What’s more, as you progress through the game, unlock additional devasting attacks to wreak havoc on your foes. And when the chaos gets too much, utilise Star-Lord’s hover boots to avoid damage.
Rocking Soundtrack!
For all those classic rock and heavy metal fans out there, rejoice with me! An incredible 80s soundtrack is the backdrop for your exploration across the stars. Featuring classics, such as (Don’t Fear) The Reaper and We’re Not Gonna Take It, it will be impossible for you to resist the urge to head-bang as you race across the galaxy.
Plus, listen to exclusive tracks from the in-game band that inspired Peter Quill’s persona – Star-Lord. Using the vocals of Eidos’s senior audio director, Steve Szczepkowski, the tracks include, ‘No Guts, No Glory’ and ‘Zero to Hero’.
