The renowned high-end manufacturer PHANTEKS, held in high esteem for their premium and innovative cases, are expanding their product range once more with the addition of a new universal fan controller capable of controlling all the fans in a case. Since it supports up to eight fans natively, and additionally each port can be doubled once again by adding a Y-splitter cable, the range of options open to users has never been broader. Whether in the context of the office-, professional gaming, even simply enthusiast-class PCs, when it comes to cooling – the sky’s the limit!

The PHANTEKS Universal Fan Controller Hub at a Glance:

  • PHANTEKS hub for five 4-pin- and three 3-pin fans
  • Controlled via the motherboard or a wired remote
  • Powered via SATA cable
  • Cables and mounting materials included

The PHANTEKS PWM fan hub will, in most cases, installed on the reverse of the motherboard tray. Installation is a breeze, since PHANTEKS includes two adhesive pads to enable users to place it in the optimum position. The other benefit of this is the fact that the fan controller can then be moved when or if needed, to improve cable management for example – a welcome bonus given the amount of wiring that 8 or more fans could involve.

The PWM fan hub supports eight fans being connected directly, with five 4-pin PWM fan ports alongside three 3-pin fan ports. If the fan hub is connected to the motherboard, the signal from the first fan can be read and the remaining fans will behave in an identical fashion. As a result, the 3-pin fans will be voltage-regulated to spin at the same RPM as the PWM fans. As an alternative to direct motherboard control, the included wired remote is also an option for users – offering three different fan speed settings.

Limits on fans and their control are well on their way to becoming a thing of the past thanks to PHANTEKS. This is due in no small part to the option of using Y-splitter cables too, meaning that if users should happen to require even more cooling, many more than eight fans can now be used. If the standalone SATA power supply is not used, please take note of the total power usage as this will be limited to 30 Watts.
