The 20th BAFTA Game Awards aired on Thursday 11th April, and we’re here to round up the big wins of 2024.
The award ceremony aired on all major streaming and social media platforms, and you can watch it here if you didn’t catch it live. We’re highlighting a cross-section of the awards, because we love celebrating games. A lot of hard work goes into our favourite titles, and that should be recognised! Best Game
Naturally, we’re starting with the Best Game award. The nominated games are Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Dave the Diver, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder. All well deserving of the title, indeed!
The winner is… Baldur’s Gate 3! No surprises there, really. After spending a productive three years in early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 launched as a fully-fledged game with very few quibbles and bugs.
We’ve been following Baldur’s Gate 3 since its release in early access and were only too happy to talk about every facet and development!
Best British Game
Celebrating the best of British talent, the nominees for Best British Game are Cassette Beasts, Dead Island 2, Disney Illusion Island, Football Manager 2024, Viewfinder, and Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin.
The winner is… Viewfinder! This charming puzzler is all about changing your perspective and reshaping reality with the help of your instant camera. With hours of satisfying puzzles and a Cheshire Cat-like figure making regular appearances, it’s easy to see how this British gem scored the win.

Best Debut Game
With so many games releasing every year, and enough of them backed by the might of big studios, making waves with your debut game is impressive. So, props to all the nominees, regardless of the outcome! Up for Best Debut Game are Cocoon, Dave the Diver, Dredge, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, Venba, and Viewfinder.
The winner is… Venba! Venba has it all, beautiful artwork, compelling story, rich cultural themes, and some tasty looking food. It’s short, it’s cinematic, and it delivers so much. A well earned win, we say.
Venba is a Steam Deck verified game – just begging to be played from a cosy nest with a hot cup of tea. Check out more games we think are great to play on the Steam Deck – you might see another debut nominee, too!
Best Evolving Game
With continued dev support for your favourite games, you can keep enjoying the action for years to come. Game devs, we salute you for your dedication to our entertainment. The titles nominated for Best Evolving Game are Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Fortnite, Forza Horizon 5, Genshin Impact, and No Man’s Sky.
The winner is… Cyberpunk 2077! This game may have infamously gotten off to a rocky start, but it has gone from strength to strength since. With the expansive DLC, Phantom Liberty, dropping last year, we have new areas to explore and a tale of espionage to navigate. Plus, we’ve had an anime series and plenty of updates to keep this compelling world fresh. CD Projekt Red, thank you!

Best Multiplayer
Games are best enjoyed with friends. It’s a fact. There have been some banging multiplayer titles released in the last year, as demonstrated by this crop of nominees. For Best Multiplayer, we have Baldur’s Gate 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Diablo IV, Forza Motorsport, Party Animals, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
The winner is… Super Mario Bros. Wonder! There’s a reason Super Mario is a titan of gaming. The long-standing franchise has produced some incredible games, especially for multiplayer mayhem. Let’s a-go!

Best Music
The best game score of 2023 for me is easily, hands down My Time at Sandrock by Claude Ruelle. The BAFTAs don’t agree with me. Still, I’m willing to concede that the nominees for Best Music have created atmospheric soundscapes for their respective games. Nominated are Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games for Alan Wake 2, Ubisoft for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Borislav Slavov for Baldur’s Gate 3, Nintendo for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, John Paesano, Scott Hanau, and Keith Leary for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Gordy Haab and Stephen Barton for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The winner is… Borislav Slavov for Baldur’s Gate 3! 10/10, no notes.

Best Performer in a Leading Role
Adding voices to game characters truly brings them to life. And that is not possible without the immense talent of the voice actors behind them. Nominated for Best Performer in a Leading Role are Amelia Tyler as the Narrator in Baldur’s Gate 3, Cameron Monaghan as Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Nadji Jeter as Miles Morales in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Neil Newbon as Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, Samantha Béart as Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3, and Yuri Lowenthal as Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The winner is… Nadji Jeter in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2! Jeter truly breathes life into Miles Morales and we’re here for it.

Best Performer in a Supporting Role
Of course, the same accolades should be showered on the supporting cast roles, too. The nominees for Best Performer in a Supporting Role are stacked with some serious talent! They are Andrew Wincott as Raphael in Baldur’s Gate 3, Debra Wilson as Cere Junda in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Ralph Ineson as Cidolfus “Cid” Telamon in Final Fantasy XVI, Sam Lake as Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2, Tony Todd as Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Tracy Wiles as Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3. (As a horror fan, it makes my heart happy to Tony Todd’s name up there, the man has an iconic voice.)
The winner is… Andrew Wincott for Baldur’s Gate 3! At this point, it is very clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 is just getting everything right! Yet another well-deserved win.
From its perfect casting to atmospheric soundscape, Baldur’s Gate 3 is an action-packed adventure just waiting to be had. We are all for adventurous gaming, here!
EE Player’s Choice
The EE Player’s Choice is the only award voted on by the public. A true representation of what gamers have enjoyed playing this past year! The nominees are Baldur’s Gate 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Fortnite, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Lethal Company, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
The winner is… Baldur’s Gate 3! What else is there to say about BG3? Congratulations to Larian Studios on all their big wins at the 20th BAFTA Game Awards!
