Cyberpunk 2077 has been hot gamer news since the teaser trailer a whopping 7 years ago! The success of Witcher 3:Wild hunt, the previous title of CD Projekt, only increased excitement and the wait is almost over. Features to get excited about include a huge hand-crafted open world, extensive character customisation, ton of cool weapons and an in-depth story and quests with multiple endings.

When is Cyberpunks 2077’s release date?

The release date was originally announced for April the 16th this year but as the date grew closer the developers announced in January they needed “more time to finish playtesting, fixing and polishing”. It’s now been delayed to September 17th, 2020. We’ve already been waiting for 7 years so giving CD Projekt a few extra months to ensure everything is perfect for launch just gives us some extra time to prep our PCs and spend time enjoying the other huge releases this year. I can’t see myself backtracking to finish other titles after diving into the immersive world of Night City.

What are the system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077?

CD Projekt has never held back on giving your PC a beating when it comes to graphical requirements and it’s likely Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be no different. With its release around the same time as the next-generation consoles, the boundaries are bound to be pushed and it might be time to consider upgrading. The final version of the game is still a little way off so there has been no official announcement but after the 2018 gameplay demo at E3 we do have an idea of what is required.

Alicja Kozera a community manager shared the specs of PC they used which are as follows:

  • Processor: Intel i7-8700K
  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
  • Memory: 2 x 16GB of 3000MHz G.Skill Ripjaws V
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti
  • Storage: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 SSD
  • PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

Will my PC run Cyberpunk 2077?

The PC used at the E3 demo was a top-end system at the time but don’t let those beastly specs have you running for cover. The gameplay was demoed in 4K resolution which we all know is extremely demanding and not representative of what most gamers will be aiming for. It was also an earlier version of the game that was likely unoptimised and not very forgiving to more budget PC’s.

How to build a PC for Cyberpunk 2077

The modding community has already been hard at work creating some epic Cyberpunk themed PC’s. The Stunning system on the left created by MercoMods is one of my favorites. That’s the aesthetic inspiration covered but what sort of hardware do you need.

Night City is full of shadows and reflections created by the futuristic neon lighting so it’s no surprise Nvidia has been working hard with CD Projekt to implement plenty of raytracing goodness. To take advantage of this you’re probably going to want to get your hands on an RTX series GPU that matches your budget and then pair it with a new 6 core CPU. This gives us an estimated spec list as follows:

Estimated System Requirements

 Minimum System RequirementsRecommended System Requirements

What prebuilt PC’s are available that meet these specifications?

If you don’t have the time or knowledge to assemble your own system to play Cyberpunk 2077 it might be worth picking up a prebuilt PC that’s ready to go.
