Everyone’s favourite monster hunter is set to return in the Witcher remake! CD Projkect Red announced earlier this year that they are working on a remake of the original game. We’ve compiled everything we know so far about the upcoming Witcher remake.

The Original Game:

Originally released in 2007, The Witcher, was the game that started it all.

Based on the fantasy novel series, The Witcher takes place after the series of events of the main saga. Players will step into the shoes of Geralt of Riva, the witcher, who has suffered from amnesia. Gradually learning that he was once a renowned witcher, you must navigate the hordes of monsters, enemies, and friends that are awaiting your return. All whilst choosing the path that you believe Geralt should follow…

The Witcher Remake:

CD Projkect Red revealed earlier this year that the original Witcher game is getting a well-deserved remake! Currently, codename ‘Canis Majoris’, the game is still in the very early stages of development, meaning there is not a lot of information about the remake. With that said, we do know that it is being completely rebuilt utilising Unreal Engine 5

The Head of Studio at CD Projkect Red, Adam Badowski, has said, ‘The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projkect Red. It was the first game we made, ever, and it was a big moment for us then. Going back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to experience it feels just as big, if not bigger’.

What Can We Expect in the Witcher Remake?

As the game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5, we can expect the remake to support next-generation gaming technology, including Real-Time Ray Tracing.

All of our favourite scenes, combat, and gameplay from the original game will now be cast in stunning photo-realistic light for even greater immersion.
