Immortals of Aveum: New Magic-Slinging FPS Game with All-Star Cast 

Immortals of Aveum takes the FPS mechanic and brings a whole new layer of magic to the experience. 

Although it has been delayed by a month, we are super excited to see Immortals of Aveum hit our gaming PCs. With its phenomenal graphics, incredibly detailed world, and all-star cast, it could definitely be a contender for one of the top ten games of the year. Does the fact that it stars Gina Torres heavily influence that statement? Absolutely. I said what I said. We’re going to take a closer look at this upcoming, magic-slinging game and what it’s going to need to run. 

What is Immortals of Aveum?

Immortals of Aveum is a magic FPS game from Ascendant Studios and Electronic Arts. From the trailer alone, we can see it is going to be a highly detailed game with fast-paced, magical combat and plenty of compelling, cinematic cut scenes. 

You play as Jak, a new member of the elite order of battlemages, the Immortals. Their goal? Try to save a world on the edge of the abyss by stopping the Everwar – an endless struggle to control magic. The Immortals are champion protectors of Lucium, one of the last kingdoms remaining, and they need to uncover the secrets of Aveum’s past if they are to save its future. 

Battle Magic 

As a battlemage, you need to master your magic. The game is presented as a first-person shooter, but ✨magical✨, with fast and fluid spell-based combat instead of guns. There are more than twenty-five spells and eighty talents to unlock and upgrade, which you can utilise in deadly combinations to defeat your enemies and fearsome monsters. What’s more, you can discover, craft, and upgrade hundreds of pieces of magical gear, with an aim to synergise your magical playstyle. 

There are three magical forces to conquer; Red, Blue, and Green. Each has its own unique style and mechanics. 

• Red Magic is all about entropy and violence. These spells can rend, create, and harness energy in an extreme and powerful way. Disrupt Red Magic energy to disorientate your foes or manipulate it to produce destructive fire power. 
• Blue Magic is force and physical manipulation of matter. Form shields or defensive walls, play with gravity, or fire bolts in the midst of battle. This magic can also be used to grapple, pull, and push objects. 
• Green Magic embodies death, transition, and growth. These spells alter your surroundings, allowing you to bind objects, bamboozle enemies with illusions, or even destroy your foe’s ability to cast and heal. 

All-Star Cast

On top of innovative combat and all-round stunning graphics, Immortals of Aveum has an impressive cast list. I’m sure fellow Firefly and Destiny fans instantly picked out Gina Torres from the line-up. She plays Grand Magnus Kirkan, who recruits Jak, and will no doubt be her usual badass self. I expect no less from this sci-fi queen. 

Fangirling aside, Jak is voiced by Darren Barnet, who has found fame on Netflix and is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Gran Turismo. Plenty of the cast has appeared in other well-loved video games, such as Zendara voiced by Lily Cowles (Helen Park in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War) and the villainous Sandrakk voiced by Steven Brand (Call of Duty: Vanguard).

What Platforms Can You Play Immortals of Aveum On? 

Immortals of Aveum will be available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC – via Steam, Epic Games, or the EA game launcher. 

It is a single-player-only adventure, so crossplay support isn’t needed. If you wanted to share this game with your friends, streaming is the way to go!
