Left Hander's, Ambidextrous Gaming Mice, and a Few Famous Lefties

August 13th is International Left Hander’s Day. It’s time to celebrate all our left-handed gamers out there! Overclockers UK might not be Ned Flanders’ Leftorium, but we do stock a number of ambidextrous gaming mice. From big brand names, like MSI and Razer, to colourful additions from Xtrfy, there’s an ambidextrous gaming mouse out there for everyone. So, sit back and read through this breakdown of what’s available, all with a liberal scattering of famous left-handers and facts.

Left Hander's, Ambidextrous Gaming Mice, and a Few Famous Lefties

MSI Clutch

Naturally, with it being MSI Month, this is the perfect place to start for an ambidextrous gaming mouse. There are a number of gaming mice in the MSI Clutch range, a certain amount of them being ambidextrous. The GM40, GM11, and GM08 are all equipped with symmetrical frameworks that are comfortable to use under either hand. Additionally, each has its own unique features, making it certain there’s a perfect mouse for everyone. Perhaps you!

Starting with the GM08, as well as the highly precise sensor you’d expect from a gaming mouse, this has an adjustable weight system. Starting at 92g, the MSI Clutch GM08 can be hiked up to 103g. What’s more, there are 2 x 3g weights and 1 x 5g weight, meaning you can configure them in a number of ways. We can let a mathematician figure out the number of permutations…

Next up, the GM11. This gaming mouse is fully supported by MSI’s software: The Dragon Center. Set the RGB lighting using the full scope of 16.8 million colours and a range of effects. Not to mention, you can synchronise with other compatible devices in your setup! What’s more, you can assign hotkey shortcuts directly onto the MSI Clutch GM11 to save you time when you next feel like changing the lighting. Different games need different colour schemes!

Finally, we have the GM40. Absolutely stunning in bright red, this gaming mouse comes armed with a variety of modes – optimising it for several uses. Working from home? There’s an office mode. Left-handed? (Why else would you be reading this?) There’s a left-handed mode. Need gaming shortcuts? There are a number of programmable buttons available for streamlining your experience. Frankly, with the MSI Clutch GM40 under your hand, you really can’t go wrong.

Corsair M55 Pro

Pretty much any mouse that is symmetrical in design can be classed as an ambidextrous gaming mouse. Whilst they may be comfortable to use with both hands, the extra buttons are still placed under where the right thumb would go. True, you can use your fourth finger to click these, but wouldn’t a truly ambidextrous mouse be better? Enter the Corsair Gaming M55 Pro Mouse.

With this sleek and ergonomic mouse, you have access to right- and left-handed modes, which will flip the functionality of the mouse depending on which state you have set. As such, there are thumb buttons on both sides of the frame, fully programmable to suit your gaming needs. In addition, the M55 Pro has all the great features of a premium gaming mouse.

PixArt sensor? Yep – the PMW3327 with up to 12,400 DPI.

 Fun Fact

On a typical, QWERTY keyboard, there are roughly 3000 words written solely with the left hand, in comparison to just 300 with the right. Is your brain feeling baffled? Go on, focus on your left hand the next time you type something.

Razer Wireless

Being wireless is a massive asset for gamers, whether you use left- or right-handed mice. With no cable drag to slow you down, quick flicks and manoeuvres can be perfected. We have two Razer gaming mice that are wireless and ambidextrous: the Atheris and Viper Ultimate. Both mice connect via 2.4GHz wireless and sport the classic Razer aesthetic, yet they utilise different types of batteries.

First, the Razer Atheris Wireless Gaming Mouse is powered by 2 x AA batteries and can support up to 350 hours of continuous use – depending on settings. Therefore, you could spend a solid two weeks trawling your favourite dungeons with this ambidextrous gaming mouse and not have to change your batteries, thanks to the incredible energy efficiency. Moreover, this is a small and compact mouse, making it the perfect companion for gamers on the go.

Alternatively, the Razer Viper Ultimate Gaming Mouse is equipped with a rechargeable battery. Whilst its battery life is significantly shorter than the Atheris’, just 70 hours, the Viper’s can be replenished via a USB charging cable or the dedicated charging stand, included with the mouse. With the stand, you can charge this mouse between gaming sessions, and the USB cable allows you to charge during gameplay if you’re caught short.

Glorious and Cherry Xtrfy

Next up, we have two models that are very similar in design from two different brands. The Glorious Model O and the Cherry Xtrfy M42. Both of these mice sport bright, colourful shells with a honeycomb pattern, helping improve your grip. Of course, they are also symmetrically shaped, making either one ideal for use as an ambidextrous gaming mouse.

Logitech

Lastly, let’s talk about the available ambidextrous mouse from Logitech. Their G Pro Wireless mouse is the culmination of two years’ extensive research, with big names in esports helping along the way. Logitech says it’s the perfect gaming mouse. Whilst that statement is entirely subjective and down to the individual user, it certainly does have some impressive features to back up this claim.

Equipped with their flagship optical sensor, the Logitech G Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse has a sensitivity of up to 25,600 DPI and a 1ms report rate. In terms of performance, this mouse is incredibly accurate and blindingly fast, every little movement being tracked with minimal lag. Plus, its symmetrical shape is paired with removable buttons, enhancing the functionality for left-handed users.

Perhaps Logitech was right in saying this mouse is perfect?
