After almost a decade of waiting, Crytek has confirmed that Crysis 4 is in development. Following the developer’s split from EA after Crysis 3, a sequel has seemed less and less likely as they only focused on remasters for the original trilogy. But now we know a tentatively titled fourth game is in development and can start to hype ourselves up. What better way to do that than by asking, for the first time in too long, can my PC run Crysis

Crysis 4 Official Announcement

Before we lose ourselves in glorious tech, let’s first check out the official announcement from Crytek. It does not give any story details away, but it is ripe with imagery and themes while confirming that Crysis 4 is only a working title.

What Do We Know About the Crysis 4 Plot?

No concrete details of the plot are given away as part of the announcement, likely because the game is so early in development that these are still being finalised. We can gleanplenty of shots of decaying city structures and suns blazing. All this seems to indicate an escalation of the conflict with the alien Ceph, maybe even foreshadowing a full invasion from them. Time will only tell what awaits series protagonist Prophet

When Will Crysis 4 Be Released?

The release window for Crysis 4 is completely up in the air. The announcement serves merely to confirm that Crytek has “entered development” on the highly anticipated sequel. Their official careers page indicates they are actively hiring for nearly two dozen positions on the team as well. Given how early in the process that would leave them, we are still years away from having Crysis 4 in hand.

Even more of a question mark is what will the official system specifications be for Crysis 4. The series is well-known for pushing the limits of gaming PCs the world over. Last year saw the release of the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, which pushed our systems even harder. We’ve included that game’s official system requirements as a benchmark – Crysis 4 will demand even higher performance.
