First time having a top end gpu also

@latepmas
Yep, I've been keeping an eye on temps. Generally lower but with MSFS2020 in VR with lots of SS, I went up to 98c but GPU temp staying below 80c.
Hey I have the palit gaming oc 3080 ti and I just wondered if someone could help? Over overclocked mine as you do, when gpu utilisation is sort of 70% and below it normally boosts and stays around 2 and 2.1ghz, but when I play a game that has really high gpu utilisation that drops and drops to 1.850 or so when at nearly 100% gpu utilisation. Is this normal and how a founder edition card performs at least? Im panicking now and worried I should have got a founders edition instead? Thanks
Brilliant thanks, I did read reviews but didn’t find anything specifically detailing this behaviour. Ok so I’m good, I don’t need to sell it and get a founder edition then?That's normal behaviour of these cards, founders or AIBs. Nothing to worry about and your card is working exactly right. Read some reviews , Gamers Nexus even shows this behaviour on a graph.

Thanks. It’s a very clean setup using a b550 gigabyte vision d and an amd 5800x with an arctic freezer 280 aio. Case is a phanteks p600s white. X3 140mm intake and then x2 140mm exhaust and a single 120mm exhaust. Oh and it’s on a Corsair rmx white modular 850w psu. And using nvme drives for storage so no hard drive cadeys blocking airflow, super clean super open inside. Temps tend to stay in the 70s while gaming (regardless of the gpu utilisation). I’ll post a pick tomorrow.You don't need to sell it no and you may even find the FE is slower than the card you have now as it has a better cooler than the FE and a cooler that is used on their 3090 cards too, it's a very good card and your boosts speeds are very good, it's normal it settles to a slower speed as it heats up and yours is settling at a very good speed. It all comes down to airflow and case cooling too, so the better the cooling the better the boost clocks. Stick a picture up of the inside of your case showing the cooling setup, maybe can get some better fans or add more fans, but reality is your card is behaving very well so no need by the sounds of it.
