What Do You Need:
For general office use, you need a PC that can handle multitasking and heavy-duty applications. It is important that your computer runs fast and efficiently to keep up with you and your busy workdays.
The Components:
CPU:
For a computer can that handle your day-to-day use and effectively manage multiple tasks at once, you will want to invest in a dual-core CPU or higher. Personally, we would highly recommend opting for a quad-core CPU for fantastic all-round performance.
The speed of your CPU determines how well your PC performs overall. The higher the speed (measured in GHz), the faster your computer will be. A slow performing CPU won’t be able to handle multiple applications simultaneously, which is a must in a standard office PC.
GPU:
Unless you are planning on using your work PC for gaming out of hours, you don’t need to invest in the latest generation of GPU.
In fact, you can also consider purchasing an APU, a CPU that features integrated graphics. These aren’t ideal for playing the latest, heavy-duty AAA titles, but can handle casual gaming. Perfect for unwinding after a long day’s work.
RAM:
For a standard office PC, it’s recommended that you have at least 8GB of RAM.
Without high-quality and stable RAM, you won’t achieve the consistently stable performance needed for office work.
Storage:
In order to store all of your work files and projects, you need a lot of ultra-reliable storage. You can choose between a hard drive (HDD) or solid state drive (SSD) to store all your important files. HDDs are cheaper and often have a higher storage capacity, but can be slow due to the mechanical moving parts. Whereas, SSDs are faster than HDDs, but are typically a little more expensive.
It is also recommended that when working you choose to back up your files, either online or on an external hard drive.
