Mortal Kombat is once again returning to our lives with yet another reboot. MK1 launches today on PC and console. Here’s everything we know.

With perhaps the most pathetic attempt at a Steam page we’ve seen in recent years, Mortal Kombat 1 is a bit of a mystery at the time of writing. However, fear not, as we’ve checked under the rocks, watched all the videos we could find, and more to bring you all the deets.

Seriously, has someone forgotten to add the game’s marketing? Just eight hours until launch, Mortal Kombat 1’s Steam page has more information about pre-ordering than actual information on the game.

Choose Your Fighter

Mortal Kombat 1 is launching with a massive roster of new and returning fighters for us to get our teeth stuck into. Alongside fan favourites, such as Sub Zero, Scorpion, and Johnny Cage, are a whole host of new warriors.

Kameo Fighters

New for MK1, Kameo Fighters are set to introduce a whole new gameplay mechanic into the Mortal Kombat franchise. Kameos are a unique roster of partner fighters who assist the main fighter during matches. We’ll no longer be facing our enemies alone, with Kameos dramatically enhancing every battle, assisting our character with their own special moves, throws, and defensive breakers.

When Can I Play Mortal Kombat 1?

MK1 launches today, September 19th, on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, if you plan on grabbing the game, it will cost you. Mortal Kombat 1 is launching at full AAA pricing, with the Steam version set to cost a whopping £59.99. Or if you really feel like splurging, you can pick up the Premium Edition for £84.99.

What Does Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition Include?

Great question! If the game’s Steam page is to be believed, you won’t get that much.

“Premium Edition includes Kombat Pack, 1-week early access to downloadable content characters, and 1250 Dragon Krystals (In-game Currency).”

Ah, yes, Micro Transactions. They sure are one of the features of all time.

In case you’re interested, here is a list of physical things you could buy for less than £84.99 instead of MK1 Premium. *All prices correct as of publication
