We have partnered with HTC to bring Virtual Reality to life. The Vive is now available for pre-order through the HTC Vive website at the price of £689.
The HTC Vive is a virtual reality headset, bundled with two handheld controllers, and two base stations, that allows the user to interact with the three-dimensional virtual environment.
To ensure that you can play the incredible PC game titles, like Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, and Eve Valkyrie, Project Cars, Flight Simulator, and more, make sure your PC is VR Ready. Maybe Half Life 3 will make an appearance from Valve as a VR optimised game. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
The SteamVR benchmark is an easy-to-use tool to calculate if a PC is VR Ready, we recommend to have a score of 6 to 7 and above to be VR Ready at the minimum requirement. But for the absolute best VR experience, you need a score of 10 to 11 in the SteamVR benchmark. To achieve this, we recommend a high performance graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti or Titan X and from AMD a R9 Nano, or a Radeon Fury X.
Absolute minimum specification: A NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD R9 390 or higher or in Steam VR Benchmark terms a score of 6-7.
Recommended specification: A NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 or AMD R9 390X/NANO/FURY with a Steam VR benchmark score of 8-9.
Ideal specification: If you want to play a title such as Elite Dangerous with all visuals enabled and maximum quality you need a score of 10+ in the Steam VR Benchmark as such you will need a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti or Titan X and from AMD were talking Nano/Fury Crossfire or an overclocked Fury X.
