how are people finding these cards without paying the scalpers?
Not sure, had some stock alerts from competitors but by the time I get to see my e-mails they're gone, you won't find me overpaying for a card. The RRP on both the 3080 and 6800 XT are fair IMO but that's as far as my budget is going really, if stocks remain this low we might end up waiting for the next generation and buying the used cards!

They aren't. They are paying the scalpers.
Tip for anyone still looking a friend signed up to a free discord channel that gave out stock alerts. He sent me 3 links on Thursday. 3070, 6800 XT & 6800.

I bought a 6800 Red Devil as it was the only one in stock by the time I opened the website. Bought it for a silly price I know.<..snip>
The scalpers are either eBay or scalping retailers :p

I'm signed up for alerts on a couple Discord channels. You can get a 6800 for £900+ if you really want, very low volumes but they're around. The XT isn't available at any price atm.

I don't key an eye on the nV side as I'm not after one. But you can I believe also get 3070s for £750+ and 3080s for £800 to £1000. The 3060Tis when I looked were £600+

You'll be paying scalper prices no matter what if you buy atm.

It is looking more like the currency miners are getting involved too now, so the minimal stock is in even more demand. I have been looking on the AMD direct site and getting some alerts Europe had a few 6000 series last week but not the UK. The RRP for a 6800xt is the maximum I can pay, I wont be paying anything higher and that probably means a long wait for me. :(

I'm debating wether to keep my 6800XT or replace it with a 3080, I have both in my office right now (the 6800XT is currently in my pc) and game UW. I saw the drop on the 3080 and jumped because it was what I wanted back in september - but I'm having second thoughts and overthinking the next few months >.<

Thanks. That's £225 over the AMD "RRP", so he'll have to decide if that's a scalper price or not :p
Thats like saying an EVGA FTW3 is £x over nVidias RRP. AIBs always charge more than the AMD RRP. But ultimately, anyone buying a card now will have to decide if they really need it or are prepared to wait for more availability or buy a different card (maybe second hand).

Sure but rarely £225 more on a £580 model. Unless you buy ASUS :p In which case that's par for the course..

But... this time around the RRP was completely unrealistic so actually what you paid is probably the "real" price, rather than a scalped price. I'm happy to concede that.

Those of us waiting for RRP will ultimately probably end up with nothing.

Can't say which retailer but a similar company to OCUK but via the links my friend was sent he bought an RTX 3070 for £579!! I'd have gone for one of those but the Red Devil 6800 was the only one left in stock for £769. So ~£200 more than RRP I guess. 6800 XT was £880 but went pre-order in the time I was trying to login to the account.

Last time around I was mining on multiple GPUs bought for an average £160 mostly RX480s. Just before the shortages hit. I bought a 1080 Ti eventually but only after OCUK discounted 65 cards down to £750 from £900+ but only for forum members.

Earth, for now
Fitted my 6800XT LE Red Devil (apparently I have number 454 card out of 1000). I reckon they might just get to 1000 before the next gen release.

Very nice card, probably just as impressed with the UI of the drivers compared to the many years of using the Nvidia Control Panel.
Last AMD card for me was a 4870 around 2008.

not sure where to start with any optimisations or anything for the drivers.

MSI afterburner/ RTSS and HWinfo64 seem to work.

So didn't consider the size before buying due to the shortages and what should have been a 10 min swap took a couple of hours. HAF XB EVO case which is a large desktop style case was barely big enough to accommodate it. Had to remove the AIO CPU cooler as the front mounted rad wouldn't fit as well as the GPU. Always keep spares just in case so refitted my Noctua air cooler which works fine at least with 2 RAM sticks!

Noticing that many of the cards on Ocuk website are having their prices increased drastically before the intended release. Some sapphire cards have slowly had their prices increased by over £200.00 so far. Is this going to continue happening until release?

Probably, overclockers will be looking to maximise profits from people desperate to buy a graphics card.
