Quick question re temps. I’ve had my Ventus OC 3080 for a couple of weeks now, more than happy with it. Choice of model was a bit limited as I needed to fit it in a Grandia SG09 HTPC case (and it does fit).

I prefer quiet gaming, so minimising noise is a big deal for me, and setting max fan speed to 60% keeps the card at about 80 degrees, dropping to 50% fan speed I can run just under temp limit at 83 degrees.

Is it safe running at these temps long term? To be honest I don’t game for long session any more, 2 or 3 hours max at a time.

I may swap out for a TUF if I can get my hands on one - I have a queue position 17 for a non OC 3090. That might actually run slightly cooler?

Consider under volting and even frame capping. VSYNC on is a good start. This will bring temps down a little.

I can't talk to the Ventus but I'd suggest undervolting it, you don't really loose much for a big gain and slower fans.

I have the AF and an UV it knocks about 5C off the temps and the fans run less (77C down to 72C in Baldur's Gate 3 for example in the hardest parts with usage in the high 90s)

The Tuf 3080s run quiet and low temps, not sure on 3090.

This too. I use Nvidia settings to put a fame limit in of 90 fps and run gsync with a freesync monitor. The monitor limit is 95 Hz and so it stays inside the freesync range all the time. I play mostly RPGs so I don't need mad fps.

Sweet that is fits but as you well know, the size of the case and the heat the GPU creates is going to be tough to keep cool and quiet. I am not a fan of VSync but it will help bring down temps (game dependent of course). The temp of 83C won't hurt the GPU and now it is getting colder outside, it might help with the heating bills :D

Posting a little late as got mine last Thursday 1st Oct. Seems to be rock solid - no issues at all. Metro Exodus returns over 70FPS at 4K with everything cranked up, and Control looks stunning with the same settings, (not measured FPS there though).

I knew the 3080 was a big boy and not going to fit in with the pump mounted where it was so I have rotated the pump and laid the case flat until the water block arrives for the ventus. It is not pretty, but it works...

Just heads up tp MSI Gaming X Trio owners.
On MSI website they have 2 bios one labeled low noise (original) and one labeled low temperature.
I think this card is so quiet it could use a lift in fan speed and still be quiet but have better temps.
The low temp seemed just what I would like, so I tried it, but it seems no different to stock.

Ok This now works.... I contacted MSI and the instructions on the website don't tell you this but this is the procedure:

Download "lower temperature" bios on MSI Website and extract zip file.
Right click and run the .exe file as administrator.
once the program has finished and the dos(cmd) box has disappeared reboot PC.
Re-install your nvidia drivers, ensuring select manual and to tick the box for "clean install".
Reboot the PC.

Now the newer bios will kick in.

I am pleased because even though I aim for quiet, the default fan profile could be more aggressive and still be quiet with better temps :)
This fixes that and retains the fan stop at non load temps, as a compare running furmark until temps leveled out:
Stock Bios temps peaking at 70 deg with 41% fan speed.
"Low Temperature" Bios temps peaking at 63 deg with 47% fan speed.

I also noted the fans spin up at 55 deg now instead of 60 deg.

This is a better fan profile IMO still qiuet but maintaining much nicer temps :)

What's that tin? Did OCUK upgrade the Haribo? :D
Sadly no had to cancel my ocuk order and bought a zotac local running a aggressive fan curve never runs hotter than 70°C with a +140core stable so far... boosts up to 2100mhz in some games and never drops below 1930 so for a power limited card it'll do till the ti or 20gb drops
