I always said it is not an issue for me as I will be upgrading to a next gen card and 10gb will be fine until then.
I am actually surprised that you even pre-ordered one as the 10gb thing seems to be a big issue for you, in your position I would sell my monitor and get one that does both freesync and g-sync and buy a 6800 XT. Have you considered that or do you just not like AMD cards?
I recon what you should do then is wait another 3-6 months and nvidia will release a 3070 or 3070Ti that will have 16gb and be more in your budget and give you the piece of mind you desire

I think most people are honest. if they see it's not addressed to them, they will either take it to the intended recipient (if close by) or get courier to take it. I know I have in the past taken parcels to people that were delivered to me by mistake.My Trio was delivered to the wrong address earlier today, I doubt I'll ever see it.

MSI Afterburner offered no option to increase the power limit for me. I believe you should be fine just swapping the card if you already have latest drivers. It didn't work initially for me because I hadn't realized that the PCIe extender I was using only supported PCIe 3.0 and the 3080 uses PCIe 4.0 by default. The card just failed to initialise after installing drivers. So I ended up reinstalling the OS to try to troubleshoot it before I finally found the cause. I think if I didn't have that problem though, it would have been fine. The drivers did detect the card, it just couldn't initialise it due to the PCIe communication failing.
