Nice clocks, though memory is on the lower side for OC. Are these stress tests stable?

Also, saw a lot of hitches. I am presuming those are because of server issues.
Any higher on the memory causes performance degradation, and yeah the servers are laggy sometimes.

The COD Skill Based Matchmaking system often puts my in high ping severs these days.

Just wanted to introduce myself. I got a Sapphire Nitro+ 6900 XT installed about a month ago (upgraded from ASUS 6700 XT OC) and have been enjoying it with my old MSI MEG Godlike Z490 (PCIe 4.0 x16 slot 1) with new Intel i7-11700K, Corsair H115i AIO, 32GB Trident Z Neo 3600MHz RAM, and Samsung EVO plus 2TB NMME drive. I decided not to use the included MSI Godlike PCIe 4.0 M.2 daughterboard with a 980 Pro, as the PCIe 3.0 with EVO plus is fast enough and I wont have the added card blocking airflow (Samsung magician puts SSD speeds at 3494/3309). I think the case is a Corsair 4000 (got used from my son), and I'm using a new Seesonic 850W 80+ Titanium PSU. I topped it off with a Corsair Harpoon mouse and Logitech G915TKL RBG keyboard.

I'm still messing with OC settings an +15% draws about 303 watts. I have not used MPT or GPU-Z until I am more experienced. I have max GPU speed set to 2605 or so, and it will peak there but it usually runs between 2350 and 2480 Mhz with an average around 2390 MHz. It runs better when voltage is dropped from 1175 to 1150, but it seems to slow down in benchmarks or Time Spy will simply fail to complete when I under-volt in AMD Radeon Software below 1150. Also, in stress tests it will achieve 2128-2140 Mhz VRAM when set to 2150, and seems stable with settings at 2150, but it will just pick whatever speed it wants between 2100-2150 MHz when it's set to max. The 3DMark website will show that my VRAM is speeding up to 2120 or so, but the graphs show it's nailed at 1800 Mhz.

My Forza 4 1440p Benchmarks beat my son's MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3090 with 188fps vs 165fps, until he upgraded from a 5800X CPU to a 5950X with SAM enabled, and now he is catching up at 175 fps. I believe I have ReBar turned on in BIOS.

I'm not sure why I can't under-volt more and get more Mhz from the GPU, but it seems fast enough - with Time Spy over 18,000 and Port Royal was about 10,500 I think. Anyway, thanks for reading.

Nice looking build. :)

Your scores are good for the 300W power limit of your GPU. If you want to improve your scores further and achieve higher clock speeds, you'll need MPT to raise the power limit.

There is a Forza Horizon 4 benchmark thread here so you can post you and your sons scores. Check the OP for the settings you need to use - essentially everything at maximum bar reflection quality at Ultra.

How did you find the 6700 XT? I am using both a 6900 XT and a 6700 XT and was quite surprised how fast the 6900 XTs little brother was. :)

How did you find the 6700 XT? I am using both a 6900 XT and a 6700 XT and was quite surprised how fast the 6900 XTs little brother was. :)

Thanks! Good info. I previously saved some settings info for using MPT and GPU-Z which I downloaded a couple of weeks ago, but have not used until I study and understand the instructions more. I just lucked into the 6700 XT.

I first bought a used GTX1070 off an auction site last year before prices went nuts, and sold it to my son at my cost $220, but then I bought it back for $250 when he got a Gigabyte 3080. I did my PC build this March and was pretty happy with the 1070. He got his 3090 for $2100 and sold his 3080 to his best friend for only $800 (lucky guy!) before I was ready to build my PC. I wasn’t paying attention to the shortage or I would have snapped up his 3080.

Then I won Shuffle held by a Poultry_based_company_name 2 months ago for the 6700XT for $799 USD, but I had to also buy a $156 AMD motherboard with it (trying to make sure I don’t violate the rules about mentioning competitors names). I sold the motherboard for what I paid, since I had the Z490 Godlike mobo I bought used at half price, and I gave away the 1070 to my brother who had his 980 Ti recently get killed by lightning. He is a 61 year old gamer still playing old games like Team Fortress 2, Quake and Doom.

The 6700XT seems to be at least 2x faster than the 1070 and also a little faster than my son’s previous 2080 super. I didn’t even think to manually overclock it - I just selected either gaming or rage mode I think, and went racing. The 6700 XT at $799 was maybe overpriced as is everything else these days, but compared to people paying $1200 for a 1080Ti I’d say I got a great deal.

But then I started to get this competitive streak with my son who kept bragging about his 3090. So I found my Sapphire nitro+ OC 6900 XT on the website famous for selling e-books, for about the price of his post-tariff pre-scalper price RTX 3090 (low $2k range). It was $400 less there than at the place that sold me my 6700XT. But I’m keeping the 6700 XT as a backup, and it’s already come in handy when his MSI 3090 had to go back for warranty repair.

I set out to OC mine to match his 3090 if possible. If not doing RT it seems to be holding up quite well for the games I play (racing sims mostly). I can’t wait for Fidelity Super Resolution and hope it will be close to DLSS if I want to turn on RT. I’m not too picky about rendering at a lower resolution and scaling up if it looks close to native 4K with fluid gameplay. I mostly just started to play Forza Horizon 4 and Motorsport 7, and Dirt 5, but plan to try out Cyberpunk 2077 soon. So, a steering wheel is in my future.

I've used most of the current highend cards @DocJekl and the 6900XT is right up there, excellent excellent cards! Enjoy

Thanks! I do think it’s pretty impressive but I’m not using Ray Tracing. I’m gaming at 4K@60 and RT is too much of a drain on the GPU. Even my son’s 3090 can struggle with Ray tracing in 4K unless DLSS is turned on.

Both my Acer 32 inch computer monitor and my Samsung 55 inch RU 8000 HDTV are 4K@60. I’d consider a fast 1440p monitor but unless I displace my 27 inch iMac in the kitchen computer nook, I have nowhere to put one now that my wife has taken over the upstairs loft for working from home, and taken over my 32 inch 4K Acer monitor to use for her work. At her office she would dock her surface laptop and use two 27 inch monitors, and now she’s using her laptop built-in monitor with my 32 inch.

So I looked at my reply to a question asking where I found my 6700 XT, And I’m worried that I was hinting about where I got it without saying where I got it, and then it might be violating rules. But I tried to edit the hints out and it won’t let me do it, so hopefully I don’t get banned because I don’t understand the rules here.
