Liquid-Crystal-Displays or LCD is a type of technology that most modern monitors and displays use to produce an image. With this technology, a current is passed along the panel with transistors to control the light for any pixel on the display. This technology is what powers the three main monitor types TN, IPS, and VA:
- TN: The oldest type of LCD panel. TN or Twisted Nematic monitors offer low response times and high refresh rates alongside being budget-friendly.
- IPS: IPS or In-Plane Switching panels were developed as an improvement to TN. These monitors provide outstanding colour fidelity in addition to better viewing angles.
