Power Supplies - The heart of every computer. Often overlooked and not given much thought when purchased, the power supply is one of the most important parts of your PC. 80 Plus certification was initially introduced in America, but is now a global standard for the efficiency of power supplies. As time has gone on, Ecova has introduced various label standards of efficiency to their website in order to grade power supplies accordingly. These are tested either by 115v or 230v EU standards, with the following minimum efficiencies required: -
80 Plus - 115V - 80%, 80%, 80% / 230V - 82%, 85%, 82% (at 20/50/100% load)
80 Plus Bronze - 115V - 82%, 85%, 82% / 230V - 85%, 88%, 85% (at 20/50/100% load)
80 Plus Silver - 115V - 85%, 88%, 85% / 230V - 87%, 90%, 87% (at 20/50/100% load)
80 Plus Gold - 115V - 87%, 90%, 87% / 230V - 90%, 92%, 89% (at 20/50/100% load)
80 Plus Platinum - 115V - 90%, 92%, 89% / 230V - 92%, 94%, 90% (at 20/50/100% load)
80 Plus Titanium - 115V - 90%, 92%, 94%, 90% / 230V - 90%, 94%, 96%, 90% (at 10/20/50/100% load)
Basically, the higher the label, the better the efficiency.
