Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the powercolor 6900xt red devil ultimate should normally cost, i know they are in shops for around £1600-1700, but i want to know what MSRP was actually supposed to be. Reference 6900xt was around £700, so im guessing their msrp is not £1000 more expensive

I believe the MSRP (guessing, because I've never seen it lol) is around 1 to 1.1K. The reference is £862.57. I paid £1650 in a whole rig with a 6900 XT - Just to remove the GPU and gave the Radeon VII + the rest of the rig that came with the 6900 XT to the wife.

I am doing just about the same with a reference card, 18639 in the graphics score with the latest driver.

Depends which program you are using but Adobe Premiere always favours Nvidia for hardware encoding. Even lowly 1650's or 1060's do better than their AMD counterparts.

Well, a 6900 XT is about ona par with a 2080ti, but everything from the 3070 is faster than any AMD card.

To be honest recent video I encoded in Premiere didnt notice much difference in speed between the 6900xt and a 3080fe. Depends on whether you are bothered about the time it takes or not I guess. If its your job you want something as fast as possible. 6900xt is no slouch.

Yeah I understand your thought process. At some point, perhaps after an extended session or with higher ambient temperatures you may encounter stability that you did not previously in Cyberpunk for example.

Ray Tracing seems to limit max overclocks for both vendors it seems, I am still not convinced by Ray Tracing personally.
Quick update on this; got a TDR in CP2077 with game-specific OC so I guess it's not a good idea. Stable OC is the way to go.

Considering the 6900xt is currently £1600 or thereabouts that is a bargain. Or is that the price you told the wife its actually over £2000 ! ;)

haha, I told her I spend just £1350 .. I bought from *********, if anyone is interested..

Your wife is one luck lady, I hope you remind her of that. :D

:cry::cry: "I wanna play with you, she said", she's been with the Radeon 7 for a month and haven't touched the rig lol.. meanwhile, it keeps with mining then

Ordered 27 days ago to be precise. 5 days to build then delivered next day. Yeah, I just checked and the 6900 XT is not there, probably out of stock because they said whatever is in the list is ready to be build.

******

And looking for a water block, probably will be a Bykski, can't budge too much against 75GBP block lol...

Wow - very lucky. I nearly plumped for a 5600x build from them with the Asus 6800 XT Tuf but that still put the card at about 1000-1100gbp when accounting for the value of the other parts.

I would remove the competitor name if I were you or you will get a ticking off.

Waiting for my new 8+8+8 cables to arrive. Still trying hit the sweet spot with my overclock

Well i have become a very unexpected 6900 XT member after a deal which was just to good to pass up, tbh the whole build has changed a lot from my original vision of a completely black stealth build. It morphed in to a black/grey theme becasue of component choice (not liking original options) and deals which presented themselves.

For TROH :)

I really should update my case (Lian-Li V2000B) but I really can't bring myself to part with it and I can't find another inverted case I like :(

Waiting on the waterblock before I throw this in my overkill loop.

Tested Timespy performance on 21.6.1 vs 21.6.2 after the 21.6.1 driver bought big performance gains on Timespy vs earlier drivers.

Ran the test twice on each driver, using the best result (overall score) and 21.6.2 was a few points faster in graphics score, but really nothing in it.

I would recommend revieiwng the 21.6.2 release notes and deciding if it is worth if for you to upgrade. In other words, if you intend to play Doom Eternal and use Ray Tracing.

Others still talk about 300 points increase:
