Choosing the right size monitor is just as important as deciding which gaming PC to buy. Overclockers UK stocks a huge range of gaming, content creation, and professional monitors in sizes up to 40" and beyond. In addition to choosing how large a monitor you want, you'll also need to decide which resolution, such as 1080, 1440p, or even 4K.
Sizes, Sizes, Sizes
The size of your monitor can be defined by a few factors: Screen size, screen width, and vertical measurements.
Screen size is measured corner to corner and will most often be simplified to 24 inch, 27 inch, 30 inch, and so on. For most users, this will answer the question of how big they can go. It is worth noting that when you increase your screen size, it's wise to follow with a higher resolution to have a sharp image on the screen. For example, a 40 inch monitor with a 1080p resolution can look soft due to the pixel density.
Screen width refers to the aspect ratio of the monitor. For most displays, this will be 16:9. However, some gaming monitors are now super-wide and will offer up 1.5 or even 2 times the width of a normal monitor, making them larger but not taller with aspect ratios such as 21:9. These super or ultra-wide gaming monitors are often curved allowing for a better viewing experience. This curve also makes them ideal for racing or flight simulators.
Finally, vertical measurement refers to the screen's height. The larger your screen is, the further away from it you'll need to sit to view the entire screen comfortably. Larger monitors provide plenty of screen real estate for gaming and internet tabs but might not be ergonomic for long gaming sessions.
