144Hz Monitors
Get gaming with a monitor that can keep up with the fast-paced demands of the latest games. 144Hz gaming monitors allow you to take full advantage of your PC's true performance. What’s more, in AAA and esports games such as Valorant, and CS:GO, you’ll receive a competitive edge over your competition thanks to the notably reduced motion blur, screen tearing, and display stutter.
What is a 144Hz monitor?
For monitors, Hertz (Hz) refers to the number of times the display refreshes the screen and redraws every pixel per second. Also known as refresh rate, a higher Hz, such as 144Hz, accompanied with a similarly high FPS in game reduces motion blur and allows the screen to show you what's happening in-game clutching moments faster. Traditional gaming and office monitors have either a 60 or 75Hz refresh rate, meaning this range of 144Hz gaming monitors provides you with a serious competitive edge over some of your opponents.
Benefits of a 144Hz monitor
- Better Motion Resolution:The main advantage of a higher refresh rate is significantly improved motion resolution. Simply, this is the perceived sharpness of a moving image such as an enemy in-game. When the brain blends frames to create a moving image, the finer details are often lost, reducing the quality. 144Hz gaming monitors help to combat motion blur by providing more information to our brains. This helps them to create a better-quality picture faster.
- Less Screen Tearing: Screen tearing is caused by a difference in refresh rate and frame rate. Your PCs graphics card dictates the frame rate. When this exceeds the monitor's refresh rate, screen tearing can occur. This is when half frames appear on the same screen momentarily. Even though they last less than a second, it is a huge distraction, especially for gamers.
- Increased Responsiveness: The refresh rate of your gaming monitor also affects the input lag. This is the delay between the monitor receiving a signal and it being displayed on the screen. For example, the input of a 60Hz monitor will never go below 16.67ms, since that's the amount of time it takes to pass from one refresh to the next. In contrast, a 144Hz monitor will cut that time to 8.33ms. While this might not seem significant, it is an important consideration for hardcore gamers who want the graphics to run as smoothly as possible.
144Hz Across Resolutions
144Hz monitors are available in a variety of resolutions, from 1080p to 4K, catering to both competitive gamers and those seeking immersive visuals.
- 144Hz 1080p Monitors: Designed for competitive gaming, these monitors offer smooth frame rates and reduced input lag, making them perfect for FPS and esports enthusiasts.
- 144Hz 1440p Monitors: Combine sharp image quality with high refresh rates, delivering the perfect balance for gaming, streaming, and content creation.
- 144Hz 4K Monitors: Offer breathtaking detail and performance, ideal for those who want cutting-edge visuals and a responsive gaming experience.
As the resolution increases, the GPU demands for a 144Hz refresh rate increase. For 1080p gaming, a mid-tier GPU like the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 is ideal. For 1440p or 4K at 144Hz, consider high-performance GPUs such as the RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX to unlock the full potential of these monitors.
