The Next Generation: GeForce GTX 1080
Simply put: the GeForce GTX 1080 is the most advanced gaming graphics card ever created. Designed to meet the requirements of immersive, next-generation displays including virtual reality, 4k, and multiple-monitor game-play, the GeForce GTX 1080 by NVIDIA is the future of gaming. Powered by innovative Pascal™ architecture and equipped with the latest gaming technologies, the all-new GeForce GTX 1080 brings unprecedented performance, speed, and power-efficiency to your gameplay.
Innovative technology, game-changing performance; NVIDIA’s GP104 flagship graphics core is at the heart of the GTX 1080. Based on Pascal™ architecture, it’s the most advanced compute to ever be built inside a GPU. Developed using 7.2 billion transistors and 16nm ultra-fast 3D FinFET technology, the Pascal™ GP104 is smaller, emits less heat, and achieves unprecedented compute efficiency—all while consuming less power.
NVIDIA GTX 1080 Hardware
The GeForce GTX 1080 is faster than both the GeForce GTX 980 Ti and GeForce GTX TITAN X. This boost is a combination of a new Pascal™ microarchitecture, FinFET manufacturing, and significantly higher clock speeds: 1607MHz base and 1733MHz boost. Added to this, DirectX 12 allows your GPU to run multiple tasks simultaneously, reducing rendering time, latency, and running more frames per second.
Greater data transfer capabilities are made possible thanks to enhanced memory compression technology. Retaining its 256-bit, NVIDIA has increased the overall memory bandwidth to 320GBps. This is because the GeForce GTX 1080 is the first graphics card to be powered by Micron GDDR5X memory—a turbo version of the GDDR5. At speeds of around 10Gbps, the GTX 1080 is 3Gbps faster than the GTX 980, making for a truly unforgettable performance.
Sophisticated VR Software
For VR displays and immersive technologies, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 offers unparalleled performance that equates to 1.5x pixel throughput and 2x the geometry throughput for silky smooth graphics. For non-VR technologies, multi-res shading allows users to focus GPU power on the centre of the screen to match the eye’s natural perspective, resulting in concentrated high-res for increased performance. It also includes GameWorks™ technology for a truly cinematic experience.
Beyond this, NVIDIA VRWorks Audio and VRWorks Touch are taking gameplay to a new level. VRWorks Audio traces the natural pattern of sound, providing the user with a more immersive experience while wearing a headset. VRWorks Touch has been developed to help accurately simulate the natural movement of objects in the user’s hand. Finally, the ground-breaking NVIDIA Ansel technology allows gamers to freeze time, detach from their characters, and take 360° 4.5-gigapixel super-resolution screen captures—even in VR.
GeForce GTX 1080: Designed for the Future
Embedded in the design, the GeForce GTX 1080 has been constructed using premium materials designed to ensure optimal efficiency at all times. This includes new features such as the aluminium vapour chamber cooler for superior heat dissipation—not found on any other models—and more efficient power components used throughout. Housed inside a sleek, angular die-cast aluminium casing for improved thermal conductivity, it also features a low-profile backplate with a removable section for increased airflow—meaning the GTX 1080 stays every bit as cool as it looks. Finally, the GTX 1080 features three DisplayPort connections, one HDMI port, and one DVI socket for comprehensive connectivity.
GTX 1080 Average Benchmark Results:
