When you have the world’s most advanced processor architecture for gamers and content creators, the possibilities are endless. Whether you are playing the latest games, designing the next skyscraper, or crunching data, you need a powerful processor that can handle it all—and more. Hands down, the AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series desktop processors set the bar for gamers and artists alike.
AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series processors power the next generation of demanding games, providing one of a kind immersive experiences and dominate any multithreaded task like 3D and video rendering2, and software compiling.
With great processing power comes the bleeding-edge technologies to support. All AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series processors come with a full suite of technologies designed to elevate your PC’s processing power including Precision Boost 2, Precision Boost Overdrive3 and PCIe® 4.0.
Not only are these processors drop-in ready on 500 series motherboards with a simple BIOS update, you can easily tweak and tune your processor with Ryzen™ Master and AMD StoreMI.
BIOS updates supporting the AMD Ryzen™ 5000 Series desktop processors on AMD 400 Series chipsets are expected to be available starting January 2021; exact availability will vary by manufacturer and motherboard model.
As with previous Ryzen generations we recommend 8 Pack memory solutions for Ryzen 5000 series with 3600MHz being the sweet spot in either 16G and 32G Dual channel kit capacities.

Plugged into a Crosshair VIII and a couple of bios tweaks later booted up (bios 2702, any saved profiles from a Ryzen 3xxx are null and void) with ram at 3600 C16, Fblk @ 1800MHz. I had also set PBO to +200 and sure enough Aida showing peaks of 5.2Ghz. Best manual all core overclock = 4850 so far with ram at 3733 C15 and Fblk @ 1866MHz. It's a smooth running beast at these settings but I only use this for IL2 GB under VR, normally I just leave it to sort itself out using PBO. Temp wise at idle I'm getting +8C over ambient at idle, it will nudge 65C doing a Cinebench R20 multi core run but will be sub 30C in less than 90 seconds afterwards. Cooling by an Aquacomputer Cuplex Next Vario Vision going through 600mm x 58mm rads with a Vega VII also in the loop.Under Windows 10 you need the ram and fblk tuned or it will feel hesitant, under Linux (Ubuntu 20.04), it is seriously snappy. Laughs at VMware workstation but I think Arca Noae (latest incarnation of the late great OS/2) is stumpified by the IPC available :), rem this was built on a 486 DX50 so a chip showing it 5000MHz is a UFO. RAM wise it prefers dual rank so 2 by 16GB or 4 by 8GB if using B-Dies. Both Photoshop and Lightroom getting a noticable speedup handling raw files. Liking it. Thanks OCUK.
It runs a little bit hotter than my old threadripper 1950x - but then it does do the job at double the speed
