The Ducky One 2 Horizon comes with a revised, yet still minimalist, frame design when compared to earlier models - but this time the design features the modern USB Type C connector. This connector allows it to be inserted in either orientation. As expected the design uses the reliable and sought after Cherry MX switches and Ducky combines these with PBT double-shot keycaps. This beautifully designed keyboard possesses a slim, grey frame design and its keycaps come in grey, black and blue.
This Ducky One 2 Horizon uses Cherry MX Brown switches - a good blend of typing and gaming. Cherry MX Brown is widely considered to be the best “middle-ground” switch. Its tactile bump, silent travel, and medium actuation force makes it a versatile switch. Because the tactile bump is produced by a bump in the interruption fin, the hysteresis is less pronounced than the Cherry MX Blue.
The key caps are made of polybutylene terephthalate, or PBT for short, and are produced using the double-shot process meaning they are significantly more durable than keys manufactured with ABS. In this process, plastic is poured around a shaped piece of metal or plastic so as to allow the two components to be joined together.
The popular mechanical Cherry MX switches are virtually "indestructible" and, due to the variety of switches, are perfect for every kind of gamer. Thanks to USB-N-key rollover, multiple buttons can be pressed simultaneously without resulting in "ghosting" or other problems. The 1.000 Hz polling rate also helps avoid any performance issues and this is paired with a modern USB Type C connector on the keyboard-end of the cable. This makes sure that the keyboard is successfully sending data to the PC every millisecond.
The powerful ARM M3 micro-controller of the Ducky One 2 also assists in optimising communication between the keyboard and the PC while simultaneously taking responsibility for control over macros, profile saving and other functions. The Ducky also uses a dual-layered PCB that increases the lifespan and the signal stability of the keyboard.
In order to fit the ergonomic needs of individual users, the Ducky One 2 provides three positions: folded- in as well as half- and fully-extended. In addition to the selection of different switch variants, a variety of colours can also be selected.
