Year of the Dragon

Infuse your aesthetic with the majesty and mystic of the dragon. The Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 Pre-Built Keyboard Year of the Dragon Edition features a stunning design that truly elevates this keyboard to being a work of art. The white-on-blue style draws inspiration from traditional Chinese porcelain crafts from the Yongle period in the Ming Dynasty, capturing their essence on the keycap legends, spacebar, and dragon and floral motifs across the frame. Even the coiled cable features this art style! Plus, there is a blue tassel to convey ancient, elegant charm and complete the look.

The Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 Year of the Dragon Edition utilises the SF (65%) form factor, omitting the numpad and a dedicated F-key row. Instead, functionality is layered, and there is even support for QMK/VIA for extensive customisation. The keycaps are arranged in the UK ISO layout and made from a composite of PC and PBT plastics. Adding to the beauty of this keyboard, these Orient Crystal keycaps only feature printing on the top face. The sides are, instead, completely clear, allowing the RGB lighting to shine through and frame this dragon in all its glory.

Both the spacebar and ESC key designs were produced using high-precision stereolithography, a light-cured resin technology. With this, the scenes can be rendered in 360 degrees, full colour, and transparency. For the aluminium frame, the dragon and floral motifs were printed utilising the full-colour anodising technique. Rather than adding a layer of colour to the metal, this penetrates the colour into the very pores of the metal, for a long lasting and stunning effect, all without diminishing the metal’s durable properties.

Premium Materials

For robust construction, the Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 Pre-Built Keyboard is manufactured from premium quality materials. Each layer has been carefully selected to provide a better typing experience whilst still offering customisation.

The casing is aluminium that has been CNC machined, sandblasted, polished, and anodised. It goes through multiple manufacturing stages to ensure it is of exceptional quality and cuts a fine figure on your desk.

FR-4 is used for the baseplate. It is a laminate-grade glass epoxy, a versatile thermoset plastic that has a high stiffness to weight ratio. This offers a unique feel, to elevate your typing experience.

The switches are gasket mounted. To cushion the switches as you type is a layer of Poron rubber, providing a dampening effect to soften the click and exceptional typing feel.

Hot-Swappable

The gasket mount facilitates incredible compatibility when it comes to installing switches into the Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65. Plus, with the 5-pin hot-swappable PCB, you can change out your switches to craft fine-tuned feedback to meet your play style. Plus, screw-in PCB stabilisers are included to prevent any wobble.

As standard, the Ducky ProjectD Oulaw65 Year of the Dragon Edition is equipped with exclusive Cherry MX2A Purple switches. These are tactile and incredibly responsive, perfect for fast typing action. The initial force to depress is just 30cN, and it only takes 35cN to actuate the switch. The full pressure point force is just 55cN. Paired with a 2.0mm pre- and 4.0mm total travel, these switches are light and offer no audible click when pressed. What’s more, they are rated for 50 million clicks, ensuring great longevity.
