Quality motherboard on a budget
by Alex StancuI recently purchased the Z490 Tomahawk from CCL (big thumbs up), as I wanted to upgrade my 9700K to the new 10700K and needed a new motherboard as well. Previously I had a Z370 HD3 from Gigabyte, was pleased with it, and after doing some research on the best budget-friendly Z490 mobo I came across this model. In terms of how it looks and build quality, I like it! It looks good, it feels good, it is good! Regarding features, it has everything one would want: supports high freq RAM, it has loads of USB 3 ports, USB-C etc, gigabit ethernet, the on-board audio sounds great and has no coil whine, 2 M.2 slots and what matters the most to me, the VRM is good stuff. With my previous board, I had to use active VRM cooling with a fan positioned on top of the VRM when my CPU was overclocked. The Tomahawk has them running cool even under heavy load (Prime95) with just passive cooling, which is mighty impressive. Also, the price is competitive, compared to similar boards from the competition, this one was cheaper, and it also came bundled with AC Valhalla. All in all, I'm really happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend this motherboard for someone looking to build a new PC on a tight budget.
