Noctua NH-P1 Passive CPU Cooler

With the NH-P1 , Noctua presents its first passive CPU cooler . This was developed from the ground up for fanless operation and offers efficient cooling via natural convection . A total of six heat pipes conduct the waste heat to the particularly thick cooling fins with a large gap between the fins. With the NH-P1 , processors with low or medium heat output can be cooled completely silently. The use of an optionally available 120 mm fan is also provided. This allows the balancing of short load peaks or operation in semi-passive systems.

Noctua NH-P1: silent passive cooler for CPUs
The NH-P1 was specially developed for passive cooling without moving parts. Thanks to its thick cooling fins with a particularly large fin spacing, it achieves a high mass on the one hand and minimal flow resistance on the other. Both properties in combination ensure efficient cooling by means of natural convection .

Completely passively cooled systems work silently and thus reduce disturbing sources of noise. This makes concentration much easier. In addition, passive systems benefit from a high level of failure safety and low dust accumulation within the housing.

With its asymmetrical design, the heat sink of theNH-P1 slightly offset towards the upper edge of the mainboard. On the one hand, this allows unrestricted use of the upper PCIe slot on Micro-ATX and ATX mainboards, and on the other hand, it ensures good compatibility with various RAM modules . Modules with high heat spreaders can also be easily installed on the Intel LGA 115x / 1200 and AMD AM4 sockets. RAM with a maximum height of 45 mm should be used on the LGA 2066 socket, as the cooler protrudes over the left memory banks.

Suitable processors and accessories
Noctua recommends using the NH-P1 on processors with a low to moderate heat output . In the event that the passive cooling capacity is to be expanded, an additional 120 mm fan can be installed. This helps to balance load peaks. A fan with pulse width modulation (PWM) is recommended here so that it is only active when required. The required mounting brackets are included in the scope of delivery.

The TORX-based mounting kit SecuFirm2 + is included with the cooler . This means that the NH-P1 is securely and conveniently attached to various processors from Intel and AMD. To have efficient heat transferFrom the heat spreader to the cooling block, Noctua includes the high-quality thermal paste NT-H2 . A suitable screwdriver and a practical cleaning cloth for cleaning the heat spreader are also included. In addition, the manufacturer grants a six-year guarantee.

Attention! The Noctua NH-P1 is intended for passive cooling of processors with low to moderate heat emission. The processors should also not be overclocked. For efficient natural convection, a special housing with sufficient fresh air supply or additional cooling with active fans is required. Note: For mounting on mainboards with an AMD socket, the original backplate of the mainboard, screwed in the factory, is required.
