Efficient CPU cooling with the Scythe Mugen 5 Rev. C
Subjecting proven concepts to further improvements not only saves money, but also ensures outstanding products that really have something to offer. The Scythe Mugen is already one of the big names in the area of inexpensive high-performance CPU coolers. This update of the Scythe Mugen 5 brings a new fan as an innovation: The smooth-running Kaze Flex II.

The 120 mm fan creates up to 1,500 rpm. and is ideal for cooling particularly TDP-intensive processors. The asymmetrical design of the cooler offers a lot of space for RAM with large coolers and the socket compatibility has also been expanded.

Thanks to the six inclined heat pipes, the asymmetrically arranged heat sink does not sit directly above the base plate and thus allows unrestricted access to the memory banks, which can also accommodate expansive memory bars with large heat sinks.
High performance air cooling for gaming processors
The contact points of the six heat pipes have been sensibly distributed over the large aluminum heat sink and, with a total of twelve risers, ensure a high heat transfer capacity.

The other design details correspond to the usual Scythe cooler range. The fins are therefore made of aluminium, while the base is made of copper and protected with a layer of nickel.

The included Kaze Flex II PWM fan from Scythe with a very wide control range from 300 to 1,500 rpm. This means that the Mugen 5 Rev. C is equipped for every application, from ultra-silent to overclocking, after all it generates just 4 dB(A) at minimum speed and in return transports up to 114.89 m³/h at maximum speed.

The cooler offers very high compatibility for AMD sockets (AM4 / AM3 / AM2 / FM1 / FM2) and Intel sockets (1700 / 1200 / 115X / 2066 Square ILM / 2011(V3) Square ILM). Thermal paste and installation instructions are also included.

Excellent well made Product

I have a Mugen V2 cooler in a Sabretooth X58 built 10 years ago. So I decided to buy this Scythe SCMG-5200 Mugen 5 Rev.C CPU Cooler and returned a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 CPU Cooling System as I did like the quality of manufacture or the un-insulated metal stand-offs . The Scythe SCMG-5200 Mugen is of much better quality and insulated to protect the motherboard and very easy to fit. The fixing components are of high quality and the two screws that secure the cooling unit are spring loaded, which you tighten evenly until they come to set stop by the design of the screw so as not to over tighten. I fitted this on to a i7-6700K with the temperature @ 28c no load. It is also possible to fix another fan on this unit and extra clips are given for this purpose if needed. The 120mm cooling Fan is easy to fit as the unit is designed with a recess to accommodate the fan and to secure by the clips.

Perfect

using a i7 4ghz cpu with 360mm liquid cooler decided to change to an air cooler before the pump died on me. Went for a Mugen 5 because of a recommendation by an IT professional and pleased I did as the normal running cpu temp is lower using the Mugen 5 being 28 centigrade compared to the liquid cooler. I am not obsessed with cpu temps as long as its below 50 centigrade I am fine with that. Mugen 5 very good quality cooler so easy to install and well worth the money and highly recommend it.
