Product information:

5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)

Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound is a High-Density Polysynthetic Silver Thermal Compound.
With its unique high-density filling of micronized silver and enhanced thermally conductive ceramic particles, Arctic Silver 5 provides a new level of performance and stability. Available at Arctic Silver resellers worldwide. Arctic Silver 5 is the reference premium thermal compound. Arctic Silver 5 is optimized for a wide range of bond lines between modern high-power CPUs and high performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions.

Made With 99.9% Pure Silver:
Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximize particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.

Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally conductive filler by weight. In addition to micronized silver, Arctic Silver 5 also contains sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminum oxide and boron nitride particles. These thermally-enhanced ceramic particles improve the compound's performance and long-term stability

Controlled Triple-Phase Viscosity:
Arctic Silver 5 does not contain any silicone. The suspension fluid is a proprietary mixture of advanced polysynthetic oils that work together to provide three distinctive functional phases. As it comes from the syringe, Arctic Silver 5's consistency is engineered for easy application. During the CPU's initial use, the compound thins out to enhance the filling of the microscopic valleys and ensure the best physical contact between the heatsink and the CPU core. Then the compound thickens slightly over the next 50 to 200 hours of use to its final consistency designed for long-term stability. (This should not be confused with conventional phase change pads that are pre-attached to many heatsinks. Those pads melt each time they get hot then re-solidify when they cool. The viscosity changes that Arctic Silver 5 goes through are much more subtle and ultimately much more effective.)

Not Electrically Conductive:
Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity.
(While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)

Absolute Stability:
Arctic Silver 5 will not separate, run, migrate, or bleed.

Compliancy: RoHS Compliant.

Average Particle Size:
Extended Temperature Limits:
Peak: –50°C to >180°C
Long-Term: –50°C to 130°C

3 to 12 degrees centigrade lower CPU full load core temperatures than standard thermal compounds or thermal pads when measured with a calibrated thermal diode imbedded in the CPU core.

Coverage Area:
A 3.5 gram syringe contains enough compound to cover at least 15 to 25 small CPU cores, or 6 to 10 large CPU cores, or 2 to 5 heat plates. At a layer 0.003" thick, the 3.5 gram syringe will cover approximately 16 square inches.

This paste has seen me through 3 presidencies

This paste defines the term "OG" Is it the best top of the line paste out there? Nah son, but goddamn will this thing hold you the hell down. This paste I have been using since goddamn 2004, and im telling you its old faithful. you do need a bit of a brun in time but this paste really is that good. its cheap too.

Geoffrey Fermin 2020-04-22

I've been using this paste now for a few years & I always will return to using it. It's the best out there for the price.

i had my 6200 @ 4ghz and wasnt sure if my cpu sensor was broken as I was getting around 40oc idle temps and around 70oc on load which scared me a little. As a result I bought a h100 and some of this as I know it has the nest reviews on the market. After the new heatsink and this was installed im getting 30oc idle and 47oc max on all cores. Bf3 hit around 45oc with the fans on medium all in all a good product and will probably last a few years.

Love the stuff

Got this when I got a new cooler (Scythe Samurai zz). Applied how it says on AC's website (it tells you the best method of applying the paste for your cpu chip) and it's worked wonders so far.

Temps with the i3-530 @ 2.93Ghz and stock cooler were hitting 60 C on Battlefield. This and the Samurai reach 42 C at most.

Rediculously good

I have been running the same cpu for about 5 years now so I thought it was time to change the thermal compound. I was getting an idle temp of around 35 degrees before I put this stuff on my Freezer pro 7. Now its down to an idle temp of around 25 degrees!

I had no idea this stuff would change the temp so much. very impressed

Ricky S 2013-03-07

Its not too good too be true

When i read the reviews and saw the star rating i thought "naw, cant be that good" but it is! Cut my temp by 12 degrees centigrade, took it from 43 to 31 degrees :D

its definitely worth the

Arctic Silver 5 is Surely the Thermal compound your going to want If your Over-clocking or a Heavy Gamer. Not yet Finished my Build to use myself. BUT I did use some on one of my Girlfriends Rig. And it Sure did what it says it claims to do & it brought her Temps down 12 Degrees.
So I find myself Again Saying a MASSIVE
Thank you

Good Stuff

Not going to claim it reduces 10C off temps or any of that as didn't bother measuring. What I will say is this stuff keeps well, will last you many uses and is a very good consistency for application. Not too sticky, not to gloopy, just right.

speedy delivery

good product

bought with
buy both they work really well
fully recommend both

ivan 2010-12-01

This is the first thermal paste i have used, normally i use the stuff thats on the cooler when you buy it.
With my H50-1 my Phenom 965 was at 39c in the BIOS straight from boot, after applying this it went down to 30c, thats a 9c difference instantly!
May use some on my 4890 :)

Beyond Belief

I bought this via another website (the cleaning fluid here is out of stock) and used to it replace the stock compound on my 2 year old computer.

My temperatures for my Q6600 were ridiculous with the stock compound, 66 degrees (C) at idle and 80+ on load. With this stuff my idle is now at 47 and load at 60.

Get this, you must.

Thomas Patterson 2010-08-03

i had been a year so i decided to change thermal paste so i bought this and it took 10C of my temps.

First and Best

Arctic Silver was the first brand I used and coming back to it now, I have to say I wish I never left.

Doing as instructed on their site, I achieved 32 degrees on the CPU, and this is BEFORE the breaking in period, where it drops another 5-7 degrees!

Brilliant product and easy to use.

Christian D'Amico 2010-05-05

Much Cooler

My Quad Core Exreme used to run at about 38C but since using Ardtic Silver 5 it has dropped to the low 20's.

Make sure you visit the Arctic Silver Website site for application instructions. It DOES make a big difference.

David Sharpe 2010-05-03

Just did as the website said, was a breeze and it dropped my temps to 27 degrees on idle on my quad core.
also theres a "set in period" to look forward to that is said to drop 5-10 degrees more after the first 200 hours of use :D

Thanks overclockers for another speedy delivery

This is, by all reviews, benchmarks and user comments the best thermal paste avalable at 14/1/2010

best advice is:
a, buy it
b, spread it VERY VERY thin and make sure there are no air bubbles
c, profit.

Can't go wrong with the best

This is the only compound I have ever had but needless to say I can tell its the best. After removing my cpu from the cooler when i was replacing the heatsink on my 1st build the amd stock paste had 'glued' itself to the cooler and was making the cpu very very hot (idle at 50). With this i can tell it will be different as it is so easy to apply and just looks good quality.

Also if anyone was wondering, arcticlean is what i used to remove my 'glued' thermal compound. it made me go wow at how easily it came off.

Buy this and arcticlean if youre replacing your cpu cooler - go with the best!

over and over again

over the past 4 years i have built no less than 15 systems.

In all the systems i have replaced the 'stock' paste with this one just because of its superior performance.

don't hesitate! just buy it!

Nayen Shah 2009-12-24

Same as the guy below with the corsair h50 really :) With silver 5 you cant go wrong and i prefer it instead of that liquid metal stuff that could potentially harm your mobo if spilled :S

Patrick 2009-10-20

Great Stuff

This compound is the business!

It reduced my temps by 4 degrees without changing anything else, thats pretty damn good.

Paired with my H50 water cooling kit, it is the muts nuts!

John 2009-10-13

Very good Compund, put my Temps right down from using the compound that comes with the V8 cooler.

highly recommended

eeks 2009-10-11

Very good

I got a new case at the same time as changing from stock paste to Arctic Silver so can't really tell what made the most difference, but I've seen 30 degrees come off my 3.8Ghz Phenom X4 since the upgrade and that's before the break-in period, so it's certainly not done any harm!
