Fantastic

by Frankie star_border star star star star

I don't usually use write reviews but after reading the negative reviews I was put off. I decided to bite the bullet as I was sick of being unable to play the current-gen games properly. It is fantastic, there is not a single new game that it struggles with, everything can be played on Ultra, if it can't, it's because of the game's own optimisation. The sound and volume are minimal and the complaints come from people expecting it to be silent. any sound is quickly drowned out by whatever game you're playing. This is the most affordable graphics card that will last 3 generations while likely still remaining on high settings in the later years. Im more than thrilled but refrain from giving a 5 star because my review comes with the pinch of salt that its performance relies on the other components in your rig.

Great looking card.... But!

I found the MSI ventus 3x oc 4070 very warm near the power connector end even though the software says it's running cool. From visual inspection it's obvious that there are no thermal pads on the vram components which is crazy at this price point. They seem to be relying on the fans blowing over the chips through the fins as the sole source of cooling. It seems MSI really made this variant of the card to a budget. The reviews showed 96.5°C temps near the connector side vrams (way above norm) though it's within the 150°C capacity of these chips. Too hot for surrounding PCB components & longevity concerns for me though. Good luck with your choice.

Great card for the average gamer

Did a fair bit of research before upgrading and decided to go with this 4070 base model. Amazing card for the price and can run any modern day game at ultra settings at 1440 usually achieving >80 fps or more. Avoid if you are after 4k gaming as FPS would be super low but for a 1440p is excellent. I would ignore all the negative reviews, there is always going to be a bit of coil whine when a game first boots up but this is only noticeable for me for maybe 5-10s and then dies out in the noise of the game. I have also overclocked using the following settings and getting a stable boost of 2985 MHz Core voltage: + 50 Core clock: +160 MHz Memory clock: +1000 MHz Fans: Default My temperature maxes out at 62C and usually runs on average at 60C. Overall very happy with the card, this model is just as good as the FE card.
