Its shape is cylindrical and boasts a cardioid pick-up pattern, with Voice Isolating Technology to laser-focus this microphone. Around the middle of the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is a touch pad with an LED indicator. Featured on this touch pad is a mute button, volume slider, monitor toggle, and a lock indicator. The mute and slider functions can be used to silence or adjust volume on the microphone. The slider can be used for headphones, too, as the back of the Shure MV7 features a 3.5mm audio out jack.

To switch between adjusting the microphone or headphones, press the monitor toggle. A simple press flips between a dedicated mode for each, whereas hold and pressing activates the mix monitor mode. You can tell which mode you are in thanks to the LED indicator. The bar will illuminate in green for microphone, amber for headphones, and a both colours for mix monitor. Finally, you can lock settings once you are happy with them utilising the ShurePlus MOTIV desktop app. When locked, the padlock icon illuminates.

ShurePlus MOTIV App

In addition to making adjustments on the physical device, the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is supported by the ShurePlus MOTIV desktop app. From this interface, you can make extensive adjustments to volume, gain, EQ, and more audio settings – either manually or with the Auto Level feature. What’s more, there are a number of sound signature presets for you to explore, so your content sounds just right. Choose from near or far and dark, natural, or bright settings to perfect your ambiance.

The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is perfect for home and professional creators, alike. This microphone can be connected to PCs via USB or to recording studio hardware via XLR. What’s more, there is great flexibility when connecting via USB, as both a USB-A and USB-C cable are included. Each cable is 10ft long, enabling you to set up further away from noisy hardware when necessary.

Mounting

The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone includes a yoke for mounting onto mic arms or tripods. This yoke features a 5/8” 27 thread mount. Where the yoke attaches to the microphone can be loosened enabling you to angle the device as needed. Once set, tighten the knobs again and the microphone will hold steady.
