Starfield is the first new IP from Bethesda Game Studios, developers of the smash hit titles Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Set in the 24th century, humanity has left the confines of our solar system to colonise a myriad of planets around the Milky Way, known as the Settled Systems. You play a member of Constellation, a group of space explorers who are trying to unlock the mysteries of the galaxy, while trying not to upset the peace that exists between the United Colonies and Freestar Collective.
With vast worlds to explore, an in-depth progression system built around a wide range of tasks, and countless NPCs that you can befriend, Starfield is a comprehensive RPG waiting to be explored. On top of this, you can create a custom spaceship, and then explore the galaxy at the helm of your ship. Boasting an innovative combat system, you’ll be able to take the fight to your enemies both on terra firmer and in Zero G environments with a host of weapons, from swords to laser rifles. What’s more, with both first and third person perspectives, you can get into the fight on your terms.
As you explore the Settled Systems, your character will gain experience, which you can apply to learning skills. They can be spent under five categories: Physical, Social, Combat, Science, and Tech. These skills can then be ranked up by completing specific objectives tied to them in the game world. Beyond this, you can further improve your character using mods, which you develop at your research stations and later craft.
