X570 gaming edge wifi

by Kieran Jones star star star star star

Very good motherboard for the price of it. Very easy to use and build my gaming pc from. Very happy I bought this motherboard. Very nice visuals and rgb is just amazing. There are some down sides but for the price of this new motherboard I really can not complain.I will be telling my friends to to for this motherboard. Also the free cooler master mater liquid was just a amazing touch to just make me even more happy about my purchase.

Excellent Board with good cooling

by Duncan Chisholm star star star star star

Pros:Lots of rear USB PortsMSI Bios is easy and intuitive to useOnboard wifi with antennas saves the need for a separate cardChipset fan positioned away from top PCI-e slot so doesn't blow air directly onto larger GPUsNeutral colours so will work with all PC colour schemesExcellent spec for the price.Cons:Heatsink above cpu can make cpu cooler awkward to fit

Great value motherboard for x570

by Jamie Taylor star_border star star star star

I purchased MSi MPG x570 Gaming Edge WiFi to complement a Ryzen 3700x as part of my new system build. To summarise:Pros:Total of 7 rear USB ports2 PCIe 4.0 x16 slots2 m.2 slots for NVMe storageEasy installationOnboard Bluetooth and WiFiCons:RAM was difficult to mount initiallyHeatsink on top m.2 port makes it awkward to mount large graphics cardsWhen choosing this motherboard, my main priority was functionality as I find overclocking a pain for not much gain. Thankfully, the MSi software (Dragon Centre) seems to handle this well and unintrusively. 7 rear USB ports is a great amount considering all the peripherals that seem to be around these days and connecting both the front USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports was straight forward. The onboard Bluetooth is excellent quality for my Bluetooth headphones compared to the USB dongle I used to use. The antennae provided are essential for this connection. The WiFi is also impressive so far. In my office, my phone has difficulty connecting to the WiFi but I have been able to use it for gaming with no issues so far.The top PCI port is reinforced which reassures me when supporting a large graphics card such as my 1080Ti. It was a little awkward to fit the graphics card as it ends up positioned above the heatsink for the top m.2 port which might be a problem for a graphics card with a slightly larger heatsink. As it is, my 1080Ti was above to fit ok with a little bit of care. The m.2 ports themselves are obviously essential in any new build and I am grateful to be able to do away with my old extension card. The heatsink is a nice addition just remember to remove any unnecessary labelling from the drive or the heatsink wont work properly! The board comes with a tiny screw for securing the NVMe drive in a separate bag so you cant lose it very thoughtful considering my old screw was catapulted across the room when I removed it from the old board.Installing and setting up the new motherboard and processor was straight forward. I have built a few PCs but am by no means a pro, but the instructions and labelling provided made for the easiest builds I have done. The EZ debug LEDs also came in handy when first attempting to boot up. They allowed me to quickly identify the issue (the RAM was not mounted correctly it is a little stiff to get in a first and needed a firmer hand) and alleviated my worst fear of having messed up the CPU installation. I imagine this feature would be handy to a PC builder of any experience. I will also add here that I installed 2x DDR4 3200MHz, which is higher than the information on Overclockers suggests and it is working fine. If you check the specifications on the MSi website, you can see the range of speeds supported is much higher than 2666Mhz.I initially though that RBG was something I didnt really care about, but it has ended up providing a nice aesthetic to my build. I am currently using the stock heatsink that was provided with the Ryzen 3700x that itself includes RGB functionality and it has been a simple matter to connect the cooler to the motherboard to sync the colour. The MSi Dragon Centre app provides decent customisation options for the RBG and is very easy to set up.There is a range of options in the BIOS for overclocking and customisation that I am yet to explore, but for the regular/gaming use it appears to be way more than you will need. MSi also have a customised version of CPU-z that can be used for monitoring motherboard conditions that will be useful if overclocking is your jam.I did consider some of the pricier options (such as the Pro carbon and the options from other brands) in search of a quality product. After a fair bit of reading and research I decided the extra cost wasnt worth it for the features I wouldnt be using and ultimately the build quality of this board is excellent and a definite strength.Overall, I am impressed with the range of features and quality of life upgrades from my previous motherboard and the ease with which to set up. There isnt much to complain about for me and Im not sure what more could be offered for the price point. In terms of value for money, this is one of the best value x570 motherboard available currently (22/7/2019). If you are building a PC for gaming, then this is probably the board for you.
